Awww, what a handsome guy. Hope he continues to improve for you, poor thing has been through so much. Is he on an antibiotic for an upper respiratory infection?

I'm glad to see that Flipper is holding steady. It seems like every time I read a post on this forum there is a new disease or issue popping up with these litle critters. It makes me smile that there are people in the world, like you, who take on the challenging cases and never give up, despite being hurt sometimes. Flipper is a lucky dragon. Good luck and best wishes to you and everyone with an elderly/diseased/diabled beardie.

yep, Flip is on antibiotics-baytril - but is finishing them up now. They are so hard on him. He's getting acidopholus too along with the calicium. Poor guy. I'm grateful I'm on break right now, too. He needs round the clock care. Thanks everyone. How bad does he look?

Just look at his beautiful face and that yellow coloring! Wow!
Oh my, that is quite a curvature in his spine, the poor boy! I'm so glad
you are helping him. I'm praying he continues to improve!
This little guy is special and I'm so glad you shared his photos with us!
He is absolutely gorgeous! :love5:
Hugs and Love to Flipper and you!

In the first few months that I had Evie, we had a traumatic experience with MBD, and the vet thought there was a very large chance that I was going to lose her. But with support from this website (and the wonderful people who gave me awesome advice and their good thoughts), some medicine, and lots of love...Evie has made it through and is growing big now. What you are doing for Flipper is absoutly amazing and he is a beautiful beardie! And I agree with a previous post that if he was ready to go, he would let you know. We all have him in our thoughts and wish you both nothing but the best improvement in the future.

Please keep us updated with photos :D

thank you everyone! Isn't he just a beautiful creature? after I posted that last post I went to tuck everyone in. Flip was awake so I picked him up for a nite nite kiss. His belly looked a bit bloated and he was blacker, too. so feeling alittle panicked, I put him on my chest and rubbed his funny looking tummy. He was on his towel luckily cause he let loose with a very massive poo. So thats what the issue was. Laughing, I asked him if he felt better after that. his beard got lighter and he fell alseep on my chest. I think he really did! And we know the gut is working.

YES, he is a beautiful creature :!: Hurray! for the very massive poo, relief for the bloated tummy and showing his workings are workin'! :blob5: I bet he was thanking you for a nice comforting, relieving tummy rub! I'm so glad that was the cause of his discomfort tonight, that he felt better and fell trustingly to sleep on your chest! Still praying he continues to improve. All good thoughts and love to Flipper and you!
Hugs for you both!

I am grateful you posted that pic, even though it hurt my heart to look at. I just picked up a MBD rescue Wednesday night and while his spine isn't curved, he was unable to walk 3 weeks ago and is now shuffling around his viv. I've only known him for a few days and I cried over him before I ever brought him home. I can't imagine your heartache. :( My heart goes out to you and to your little fighter.

The person I got my rescue from said it may have been best to put him in the freezer, but kept him just to see if he could recover. (Sorry about the freezer comment but that is what he said). Considering how far he has come in three weeks, I know he will continue to improve. I wonder what your guy will be like in 3 weeks?!?!?! If mine can go from paralysed hind legs to walking (crippled walking :| ) then yours just has to be able to improve, too.

I got a lot of amazing advice from Cheryl at beardeddragon.co. She does rescues and has some great ideas regarding liquid calcium and supplements for MBD. She has been very kind to us asking her questions and can make calcium blends to suit your dragon's needs.

Can you keep this thread updated and maybe with pics if there are any changes? Or maybe we could communicate via PM? We have a similar situation going on here between our dragons. I hope every day brings better health to your beardie. :)

He didn't look so good tonite. He's really black again, too. I don't know anymore. No more mucus around his mouth anymore but there is a bulge by the belly area on the outside of the bend in his back, his poop was a weird dark green today too. Just doesn't feel right. I'm worried again.

My Papa Smurf had dark green poo has his first poo yesterday and I wasn't sure what to make out of it. He also seems to be in permanent grey-black beard. I hope your little guy is okay.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
