Hi everyone! Here's my son JJ's Beardie "Kirby"! We received him on july 1st from Sandfire Dragon Ranch at the SD Reptile Super-show. The Reptile Report had a booth there, I joined and did a lurk-about :lurk: favored beardeddragon so here I am.

Kirby getting bigger! :D

I want to thank you all so much for the good info here. We still have to work on the substrate though. SFDR uses and recommended sani-chips.

Welcome little one! :) Very pretty reds on him, and his eyes are gorgeous!

I use tile myself- for bacteria, humidity and cleanliness reasons. Also to avoid impaction. I would think it would get so expensive to replace the "litter" if I wen't with something like that!

I recommend something other than sani-chips
I guess you've already heard "get that out of his
cage!" too much right? I myself, use repticarpet, others
say tile is easier and they are right but I just do
the hard work and scrub the carpet.
We're just looking out for Kirby.
Anyway, sorry bout the same thing as everyone else has said
about the substrate
But that is a very beautiful dragon.

I love your beardie! The bold patterns on him and the nifty tiger stripes on his tail and arms are cool. :D

For the Repticarpet, I don't scrub it. When I clean Yoshi's viv, I temporarily put him on paper towels, then pop all his carpet pieces in the wash on the sanitary cycle with the extra rinse setting as little detergent as will do the job. (to avoid fumes.)

Good luck with him!

Thanks all! My boy is leaning towards tile I'm for repticarpet or both tile & repticarpet. I'll need the repticarpet in 4'x2' I haven't seen that size listed. I like this idea that I read/heard about on having two sets, when cleaning time comes just swap it out with the clean one. Kirbys color improved with a little time in the sun, :D

I had to come look at your boy, he does look a lot like Em and thank you for commenting on my Em. Hes so pretty, I dont know what they are but the colors match very closely and the patterns. Love that coral red on them both.

You might try buying a bigger piece and cutting it down to size. I just cut mine up into a lot of pieces, and place them with a slight overlap. The, I just remove the dirty piece. The other way is definetely more aesthetically appealing, though:)

The first pic says "I don't like baths. Humph."
The second one says "Is the scary bath person gone yet?" :D
Yep he was glaring at me as he walked away even after 10 minutes of basking. He wants to climb/jump out with arms flailing about. :( I would hold him in hand he calms down then climbs up my arm. I've been using a 5gal bucket. Today Kirby's bath was in the kitchen sink. He flailed a little then he calmed down! :-D Yea! He didn't like the high walled bucket that the scary bath person used.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
