He looks small for an 8 year old beardie. How big is he?

He looks about the same size as my beardie and mine is only about 9 or 10 months old.

Im glad you found this site, it is VERY helpful!!

Yeah he is small I was not taking care of him like I should had read the very first post I made to this and it will tell you
all. But yeah he is small and it is because of me not knowing how to keep him correctly.
I do like this site a lot
Thanks

He was in such bad shape that I think his body is adapting really well and fast to all
my changes I am making for him.

I am going to keep taking daily pictures of Jack to see how much he is improving everyday.
Thanks to all.
I thought those of you who have been seeing me through all this would like to see these
pictures of him. The first ones I am ashamed of....but at least I know what I need to do
for him now.
THanks SingToYou :blob5: :blob8:

Keep up the good work! Are you soaking him daily? He still looks a bit dehydrated to me. Luke warm water 20 minutes at a time, don't leave alone!

Yes I am it is helping him poop also. He stuck his whole head under the water today drinking.....He usally doesn't
do that. He drinks really well from his bowl in his home. But he never sticks his whole head under like that. I didn't
like it so I lifted his head out a little bit while he was drinking.
I would give you a picture of him today but for some reason Pasting is not working here. It was a little while ago.

I would like to commend you for being brutally honest. As this is how we learn and teach at BD.org.
You sharing your story may help save another beardie somewhere. I understand how hard it may have been to admit the things you were not doing correctly. I understand because when I found this site I was doing much incorrectly too. I'm very happy that you found your way here and that you can now give Jack a good life.

Keep up the good work of learning all you can from this wonderful site an it's wonderful an educated, caring, and loving member's. :D

Thank you Barbara,
That was very nice to say.
Yes I hope that my story with Jack will help others too. I posted a Blog and that same Blog I put on
other Posts as well. Because I was hoping that it could help. It was easy to write because I
could tell from talking to others here that this was the only way to really help Jack...was being painfully
honest about how I had been keeping him all these years. I really feel like I got a handle on things here.
In just one week. And it's because of everyone here in this forum, and me applying what I have learned.
Your lil viv is very beautiful. I had asked on another post if you think Jack could fill out like her?
Thanks again for what you said.

Here is Jack today, Don't know what his weight is? He is getting so much better
I just made him a really cool pad so he can be with me while I work in the frontroom.
I think he likes it, he can see outside really good. He is starting to get more and more color Dawn just like you said
he might. He really turns color when I put him in the water??? Hum Not sure why, then later on he turns darker.
In any case I am having a blast with him. Sure a lot different tone with me than last week huh!
Have a great day and keep on sending the pictures I love them.

Jack looks absolutely amazing, looks proud, has his head up high in every one of the pictures. 8)Yes, the UVB light will bring their colors out more. It looks like you're using a white basking bulb now instead of the dark one, good job, I'm sure that made a difference too. :p

Wow, Josie -- he's looking SO much better already! Yes, the proper lighting will do wonders, he'll "color-up", and he'll FEEL better about himself! Without proper UVB, his body cannot make the D3 vitamin, which helps him properly digest his food. Temps do that, too -- without proper basking temps, his little body just won't work properly.

Have you tried giving him superworms yet? That was the main live-feeder we used to nurse Xena to health, she was skinny when we rescued her, and proper lights, food, vitamins, heat & LOTS of love & patience were the keys for her getting healthy. Now we have a nice little piggy on our hands... She's still skittish with our two youngest humans (9 & 10) but she's coming around. Now Xena is healthy and eating hornworms (very high in calcium) and superworms and multiple bowls of mustard & collard greens/butternut squash per day (her favorites)

Keep up the good work, it looks like he forgives you for your mis-knowledge!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
