Hi i been usein the 40gb now since i first got my beadie.. my main problem is the slide on screen top. Its a royal pain in the arse imo.. so i was wonderin if any of u could post ur 40gb tweaks n custome tops u have made to make gettin in and out much easier. Plus make the tank look more eye appealin. Please i dnt need advice on how to properly house my beardie. Jus some cool ideas for makein a cool custom top... EXTRA INFO INCASE U NEED IT.. i am usein a mvb and i want to also add a 2ft leaner strip for extra white light to brightin up the other side. Also i do not want to use the tank backgrounds they are (imo) false hopes for our lil guys and girls. Thank u for any advice or tips u have.. ps i have no extra money to build a large wooden cage nor carpentar skills.

Id love an answer too. I have a screen top and its a total pain. Thinking of going 'topless' when I get my new baby. Maybe a screen top with hinges in the middle so u can lift open instead of lifting the whole dang thing up??

Go to Petco and grab a hinged top. It replaces your sliding screen top. Goes right over top of the tank. The hinge is in the middle. Keep your lights on the back part, to keep the front clear. Much easier. Just lift the front half of the screen, and the inside of the tank is easily accessible. Google a 40 breeder hinged screen top.

I am using a 40g starter Viv for my Uromastyx babies. They are just barely 6" long from snout to tail tip. I don't use a lid because my hands are in and out of the Viv throughout the day feeding them and keeping them social. Also, my male needs to be woken up in the morning and put on the log or else he will sleep in all day.

I bought the 40g and the furniture at Petsmart.

When I had my 40B set up, I kept it on a utility shelf with the rest of my tanks so I just hung the lamps from the shelf above it. I loved it, but it the summer I had to get a lid because of all the ladybugs/boxelders/fireflies that we have around here.
