So reccently, again i have been planning on getting a beardie, and i was wondering if it'd be alright to have this kind of size tank when i get it. I am assuming so far that i am getting a juvenile, and just in case would either baby or juvenile be OK in this size? I am keeping in mind i will not try to clutter the beardie. Also for this size, could anyone link me the proper UVB lightblub for this tank size? :)

36x18x18 is fine, i kept a 4 month old in a 55 gallon which is much bigger and she enjoyed the space very much until i had to give the tank to my blue tongue skink who outgrew her own 20 gallon, she was not very happy in the 20 gallon and still isn't happy about the small space she is in now compared to her 55 gallon she used to have. A 22" T5 HO zoomed tube light would work. And probably a 100-120 watt heat lamp. https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-2606...&qid=1509174328&sr=1-1&keywords=22"+t5+ho+uvb

Yeah, that size is perfectly fine. Dragons are not like most reptiles that can be stressed when in an environment that is 'too' large. Truth be told your little one will be happier because he has more room to move and be active. The previous post covers the kind of UVB you'll want, so I'll just second that.

No, its not big enough! I use a 2x2x4, anything smaller wouldn't allow for much room for exercise(aka, exploring). Bigger vivs also allow for better heat gradients. To sum it up a happy dragon is a healthy dragon!

Not to be argumentative but this simply is not true. A 36" x 18" x 18" is perfectly fine for a baby or a juvenile. A 4' x 2' x 2' is needed for an adult and would be fine for a baby, but in no way is this size necessary for a baby to thrive.

I agree. It is fine for baby and juvi's beardies but once they mature they need a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft enclosure. They live in the desert Austrailia and that has lots of lands so you'll want to replicate their natural environment.

Maybe i should have explained my reasoning a little deeper!
Ok, let's all agree that yes, it is big enough for a baby or juvie. Relocation stress Is hard on them at any age. Now since we now have this FAST GROWING creature cooped up in a sub-sized viv, then when he gets to big for it in 8 or 9 months the poor creatures world gets turned upside down as he is moved into a larger 2x2x4 viv. Relocation stress sets in and, he stops eating, during a critical phase in his life (puberty.... a time when he gets hormonal and moody anyway). Adding undue stress at this time is not healthy. Not to mention the expense of outfitting a new viv.
I say start off with what he will actually need in the begining and avoid the undue stress and, adde expense.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
