3 new rescues

This is Kronos. He is an adult male leatherback. He seems in good health, not too skinny, he was just really dirty. He is father to the two below.



This is Hera. She is a female silk back. She is thin and does not have a good fat store. She is a slow eater, and we are slowing building up the amount she eats. She gets multiple baths a day. She was housed with her brother (below) but now has a nice new home of her own. She is 7 months old, but is the size of a 2 or 3 month old baby.



This is Zeus. He is a male leatherback. He is also small for his age, and he was covered in red stuff from the fluckers they had been feeding him. He is very fiesty and active though and he loves his crickets and roaches. I think he was getting the l Lions share of the food when he was housed with Hera.

Wow, you rescued all 3, that's amazing, where did they come from.. I wish you good luck with them, that's a lot of commitment to take on those animals, but happy you stepped up to do it..I'm sure they're grateful for all that you do..

I got them from a Facebook post. The guy was a hobby breeder and was getting out of it. I was really only interested in the female, but she was housed with the male so he wanted me to take both so I agreed. Then he managed to talk me into taking their dad also. They aren't in terrible shape. The first two I rescued were much worse . These little guys are just under sized due to lack of proper nutrition and lighting. The big guy just needs to gain some weight and they all needed a good cleaning.

I'm glad that you took all three in ... We bought just one, and he's a handful! :lol: Really it's not him, as much as all the stuff that you need, and I have no idea where we could put another setup, so one BD it is!

Yeah, they take up space. I have two units that hold 2 40 gallon setups, one above the other. I have one unit in my room and one in the family room. Then I have one more single 40 in my son's room. I have five dragons total.

So no matter what room you are in, there's a BD to keep you company!

Ours is in my son's room, on his dresser. We couldn't fit two tanks across it. Smaug - technically - belongs to my son; he bought it with his graduation money, so that's why he's in his bedroom. Plus, my son spends most of the day in there with him; his desk is to the left of the dresser, so they keep each other company for the majority of Smaug's waking hours. That said, I go in there throughout the day (when I'm not at work) and check on him, and occasionally steal him. He likes to go in the living room and look out the bow window.

That's Crixus' favorite spot, in an open window (screen down of course) and catching some rays and fresh air, we take her out when it's super nice out and she loves it..

We do have screens, but I haven't put him there with the window open. It's so hot (and humid) down here already, and it's only June! I hate to open windows - all I'm going to do is make is hotter inside! Maybe come fall, though, we could try it.
