Caught between impaction and egg binding

Thanks for the reply. I'm stressing out a bit less now. She ate a bunch of applesauce for me this morning and seems her usual self. Maybe when she actually needs to lay she will be more focused on that and less focused on eating dirt.

Caught between impaction and egg binding

Hi everyone, So I'm really frustrated. My beardie Tem is a girl, and it's starting to get to the age where she might lay eggs (She's a year old). She hasnt been trying to dig, but she is quite round and I started to get worried she might be gravid. Either way, it's something that will happen...

    Eating calcium powder

That makes a lot of sense. Or like how we give horses and other large animals salt licks and they literally lick the salt. It just seemed to me like eating plain dry powder would taste terrible, but I guess not , haha

    Eating calcium powder

Strange, but good to know other beardies do it too :) thanks.

    Eating calcium powder

So I recently found out my baby is a girl. She is seven and a half months old. Now the thing is, she eats her calcium powder plain and I was wondering if this was unusual and if it means she is deficient in calcium, or maybe getting ready to lay eggs? Basically I usually pour a little pile of...

    Thinking of adopting a cat

Depends on the cat. Both of my cats like looking at my beardie when I let them into my room, but one of them is slightly scared of him and watches lazily from afar then falls asleep, whereas the other one crouches intently by the tank. My only advice would be to ask the shelter people where the...

Beardie poops on me a lot

If only mine were that quick. He takes forever just kind of wiggling and repositioning before he decides he's comfy enough to poop when I'm trying to get him to do it in the bath. Also he's adorable :) and those look like some cool climbing logs. Here are a few of Tem. He has pretty similar...

Beardie poops on me a lot

Haha, good to know other dragons do it too. Tem has yet to poop on the carpet, but he has also just started enjoying exploration rather than immediately trying to hide or return to his tank.

Beardie poops on me a lot

Hey Everyone, So I just wanted to run a theory by you guys. My beardie, Temeraire, is just over fours months old and I've had him since six weeks. He is settled nicely, and seems quite happy. He will only occasionally ask to be handled (like climb onto my hand when I put it in), but generally...

    Fecal Platters

My guy is more like yours, Gizmos, he poops on his hammock where he basks and then has to awkwardly avoid it with this "help me mom, what have I done?" Look until I get home and clean it off.

    Temeraire

Aww he's a very fearsome snuggly beast! That top pic of his face is a great one!

    Temeraire

That's such a cute pic of Imp :) So the other night I decided to try and get some action shots of Tem eating, and I failed miserably, but here are my attempts, if only for comedic value. There are a few more but the image uploaded is being finicky so I'll add them later :)

How Long Have You Enjoyed Reptiles?

I've always loved animals in general and my parents had lots of pets while I was growing up. We didn't live on a farm, but we had goats, ducks and an alpaca as well as the standard dogs and cats. My sister and I used to catch garter snakes until one year they didn't come back to our yard...can't...

    Juvenile periodically terrifies himself

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try lining the inside of the tank. Yeah mine also tried to climb the background a few times but he has since given up on that.

    Juvenile periodically terrifies himself

Hey everyone, So I have a three month old beardie and for the most part he is pretty bold. He spends a lot of time basking and he loves sitting on his hammock. He's very calm being handled and doesn't seem bothered by the cats (they aren't allowed in my room where his tank is, but on occasion...

    Temeraire

Yeah Temeraire is ridiculously enthusiastic about feeding time. I use red tweezers to pick the worms out of their substrate and he definitely recognizes the tweezers. If he's really hungry he will leap for the empty tweezers as I'm moving. It startled me the first time because he was resting on...
