Beardie isn't very fond of new beardie.

If he gets worked up enough he may charge the glass at full speed, and the impacts may cause injuries.I have 1 male that will do this to his own reflection. One time he hit the front of a National Geographic tank so hard he knocked the 2 swinging glass doors open and landed on the floor in front...

    ReptiSpa Mercury Vapor bulb?

Well it's made in China,in Jiangsu province,at 7/F EXCELLENCE CENTURY CENTER TOWER 3, ROOM 709-710, SHENZHEN CHINA according to the US trademark documents filed by SPARKZOO.The other Chinese bulbs I've seen, the National Geographic and Exo Terra, aren't great,so I would avoid it.If you do buy...

    temp question....

Actually most thermometers don't give accurate readings, unless it's digital and uses a probe with a long wire connected to the actual thermometer.Even a cheap temp gun will give you much more accurate readings. You really need at least 3 readings, cool side, warm side ambient, and the actual basking...

It was a white low power LED or a high powered laser LED?A regular low power LED is harmless,in fact Zoo Med makes LED and Fluorescent tank lights for reptiles with a T5 Reptisun tube...

    Light bulb questions

" However, my vet also said that the bulbs are only good for about six months after they'really made, not from the date you start to use them" I would seriously question anything your vet says after that, that is absolutely false. The coating on the inside of the tube is slowly eroded by the...

Help! scared I poisoned my beardi!

It's mainly just Benzalkonium chloride,if you have any fish tanks make sure none gets in the tank as it is toxic to fish and invertebrates, and also birds to a lesser extent. It's the same thing that's in the Clorox non-bleach disinfecting wipes.

    Hot Lips!

I applaud your efforts. " At night I'm using a heat lamp on side of the enclosure to keep it about 75 degrees". If it's one of those red bulbs you would be better off with a Ceramic heat emitter.

    Large enough hides for adults

I'm not sure of the exact resin composition, but I've used a small air powered reciprocating saw and a die grinder with a 3 inch phenolic cutoff wheel on other pieces.

    Large enough hides for adults

You could try cutting the opening a little larger,or propping the edges and back up on some flat rocks.

Just built first enclosure! Everything look/sound right?

That should be fine,if it was a T5 it would need to be mounted a little further away.A 75 gallon tank is better than most other 48 inch long tanks as well,it's really the only one that's deep enough(18" vs 13") but not to high(21").

    BASKING BULBS

The spots are all too narrow, either 9 or 10 degrees or 16 for wide spot. The 16 degree wide spot can be made to work if it's mounted high enough above the basking area. The floods are either narrow,24 to 30 degrees,or wide, usually 40 to 50 degrees. The shorter bulbs have a slightly larger...

    BASKING BULBS

The par 38 bulbs are big,but you can buy compact halogen flood bulbs. The sizes are in eights of an inch, and there are Par 16(2 inch),par 20(2.5 inch),and par 30(3.75 inch) in addition to the par 38(4.75 inch) bulbs.

help! no electricity worried about my beardies!

I live in the US,in Southern New England, and it's the opposite here.Heating with electricity is horribly expensive,$.21 per kilowatt hour, and almost every house has either natural gas or oil heat. It's also rare to have a house without a fireplace. It's more common to have electric hot water,but...
