What is Wrong with my Beardie?

Hello Everyone, I am really worried about my Dragon, he has been very lethargic the past week, and when I came home he was all balled up in his hide-which he never does. I am afraid to move it because I do not want to scare him or make it worse. I did notice a little bit of shed in his...

    Hanging Out at the Top

hello everyone, I am not sure if it is something to be concerned over, but my beardie is acting strangely, and it has me a little worried. I guess I should start from the beginning, and try to cover as much as i know as I do not know what might be relevant here. Last weekend I moved my five...

How Can I Handle My Dragon?

He is in a 20 gallon, I really need a bigger enclosure for him, I am lacking in the funds, but my goal is within the next couple of weeks. His substrate is newspaper for the time being. His lighting is, Reptisun 10.0 UVB and a 100w basking bulb. His temperatures vary from 107-113 under his...

How Can I Handle My Dragon?

Also-I forgot to mention, that he is clawing at the glass so adamantly everyday, more so than before. Especially in the morning, is there something I can do to decrease this?

How Can I Handle My Dragon?

I love the name Smaug, that is very cute. :) Lately he has been acting standoffish. Every time I go to pick him up he immediately scurries and the other day I couldn't tell if he was gaping at me, or if he was just doing it in general. He also seemingly puffed his beard a different day, but I...

How Can I Handle My Dragon?

Sorry for the very late reply. I have been trying out the suggestions you both have provided for me, thank you very much Taterbug and RockSteady. I think I have been making progress with him, he is such a happy and relaxed guy, I think he is feeling a little less stressed when I pick him up...

How Can I Handle My Dragon?

Hello all, I have looked for posts similiar to the issues I am having, but was having a hard time finding things that were helpful. So excuse me if I am posting something redundant, if there is another topic that would benefit me to read, please point me to it, if you could. :) I am new to...

    Concerned About Baby Dragon

Thank you. Sorry for the delay. I took him in Saturday, they took a stool sample and diagnosed him with Flagellates. They gave me Ronidazole and instructed me to clean out his enclosure twice this week, and bathe him for 30 minutes everyday for the next ten days. I will then be bringing him in...

    Concerned About Baby Dragon

Okay. Glad to hear it, what a relief. I raised his basking lamp slightly. He has stopped gaping for now. If it seems normal than I will just take him tomorrow to make sure. Thank you so much CooperDragon. I really appreciate it. Any advice on how to transport him to the vet?

    Concerned About Baby Dragon

Here is a link, I hope it works: http://youtu.be/QbVYljKLOu0 He seems to do it more when I am near him. You can note the heavy breathing in his beard and stomach. I made him an appointment for tomorrow is that too far away?

Okay I will have to see if I can get him in. I haven't tried giving him another bath. Since it is sort of what sparked all of this, I was afraid of making it worse.

He is still the same as yesterday, only slightly more alert. I am very concerned, should I take him to the vet?

He does keep opening and closing his eyes, so that does seem like the sand could be a logical factor in that, though he hasn't had a problem up to this point with that. Could that be contributing to his heavy breathing-because of ingestion? Or his lethargy and loss of appetite?

    Concerned About Baby Dragon

I hope I am not out of line for quoting this, but this is what I was told: I am new to all of this, so could be ignorant either way, obviously. This had just made sense to me, but I am open to opinions, and just want to do right by my Dragon.

It is the tube style. Glad to know that the fluctuation is normal. I was informed by the breeder that child's play sand wouldn't cause an impaction. I have changed out his sand since I got him, and try my best to scoop it out everyday. Could any of this be the cause of his symptoms?
