    Only pooping in the bath

I know a lot of people seek to "potty train" their beardies to go in the bath but Gorbash will only poop in the bath ever since I moved her to her new tank. She will refuse to poop in her tank if I don't bath her. So, a couple of months ago we upgraded Gorbash's tank from a 20g glass tank to a...

Beardie's fall asleep every which way,I want pics!

I've just got done looking through this thread. I'm amazed at some of the ways our beardies feel comfortable! Here is Gorbash's contribution. She's too big to sleep like this now but this used to be her favourite sleeping place in her old tank. And I took pictures of how she got out because...

How do you exercise your BD out of the viv?

I think it depends on what the person is comfortable with. I have two large dogs and a cat as well as a beardie so I only really let Gorbash out and about in our bedroom making sure the door is closed and the other animals are elsewhere. When he was small I only really let him run around on the...

Huge loud spring break party+ Bearded Dragon=??!!!??

This if you can. Or maybe pay for a small storage unit for your collectibles. You'd have to pay for a month but it would be about the same cost as a hotel for the night.

    Beardie growth rate query

So I was just curious really. Do beardies start to slow down in their growth rate at about 6 months? I'm not entirely sure on Gorbash's age but I think she must be around the 5-6 month mark right now. When I first got her back in January she was growing at nearly an inch a week but she has...

WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY FROM PETSMART

I very rarely go to the PetSmart that I bought Gorbash I from now, not even for dog toys. I was in there the other day just for something to do and they had a bunch of tiny beardies who couldn't have been more than a week old including a "fancy" that looked like it wasn't even breathing (I ended...

    Adult Bearded Dragon Viv?

Hi, 36x18x18 is the recommended minimum for an adult beardie and I know loads of people on this site have tanks that size and their beardies are happy and healthy. My personal preference is for a larger tank and I'm in the process of upgrading from my tiny 20 gallon tank to a 4x2x2 (having...

    Gorbash The Fabulous!

Thanks. That's very helpful :) Gorbash isn't 6 months old yet so it's good to know I don't have to worry about eggs for a while yet!

    Gorbash The Fabulous!

Thanks to the very useful post about sexing with a flashlight I've had my suspicions confirmed that Gorbash is a little lady. What do I need to know about female beardies? Do they produce eggs even if you don't breed them? If yes, approximately what age does that start and what do I need to do...

    paranoid beardie owner

My first was from PetSmart and in hindsight much too small to be sold. He simply didn't thrive and passed away a couple of weeks after I brought him home. My second is from Petco, much healthier and he was much bigger when I brought him home. I've had him about 6-7 weeks now I think. I think...

help!! how do I remove crickets out of the tank?

I had some success with the cricket keeper tubes, although toilet roll middles might work just as well. Cover the cricket with the tube and it should run up inside, then you can take it out and put it back wherever you usually keep them. I also found it helped to take any furniture out the tank...

    Custom lighting and ventilation help

I'm not sure if vents on the front would be an option because of the sliding doors but I can ask if vents can be put on the top instead of the back. There wont be anything put on top of the tank to block it. Our daytime temps in that room at the moment hover between about 68-74F and temp at the...

    Custom lighting and ventilation help

I'm looking at getting a custom enclosure built for Gorbash. It would be 45x18x18 because that's what I have space for. My question is about lighting. I'm looking at putting in a 24" UV tube light mounted pretty much centrally, and 2 light fittings for the basking bulb and CHE. Would it be worth...

Thanks for the heads up! I've not had to use them before.

    when the power goes out

Hiya, I'm in NJ. I've stocked up on the air activated hand warmers. If we lose power I plan to put Gorbash in a shoebox with some small towels and hand warmers. It should keep him warm enough. If you have a gas stove then you could also heat a hot water bottle, wrap it in a towel and put it in...

    Keeping Warm

We're due a snowstorm in the north east as well. My battle plan is to put Gorbash in a shoebox with some small towels and those air activated hand warmers. It's only a short term solution but it should keep him warm enough. I heard that you shouldn't feed them during power outages as well...

    Darker coloured beardies.

Hi, I think the brighter ones do tend to be specially bred for their colour. Gorbash is a "normal" beardie that I picked up from Petco. He was very grey when I got him since he was about to shed and he's never going to be very brightly coloured but I love him the way he is. I need to take some...

    Freezing greens?

I suspected they may not come out too great. I also didn't know about the thiamine loss so thanks for that! I guess I'll go with just rotating them like you suggested. At the moment a bag of greens last about 2 weeks before it starts going bad and he'll eat maybe half of it over that time. If...

    Freezing greens?

At the moment Gorbash only eats collard greens in the way of fruit/veg. I've not tried a huge variety since I'm glad he's at least eating something that's a staple green but he ignored my attempt to get him to eat butternut squash which I've read most beardies go for. It just goes show how...

    How Old and How Long?

I'm curious about this too. I don't know Gorbash's exact age because he's from Petco. I think he's about 5 months. He's grown almost 4 inches since I got him at the beginning of January and is already almost 12" long! Edt: I stand corrected. I just measured him and he's 12.5" long!
