    What's so bad about Petsmart?

Unfortunately it's both. There's a great Petsmart over by me and they do the absolute best job I've seen in a commercial pet store. The problem is, corporate tells them a certain daily routine for said animals, and they're expected to follow policy. Yes, that means that unfortunately the baby...

    The Cantankerous Beardie Dilemma

108 degrees basking. He's in a 40 gallon breeder tank. I also use several thermometers to reference from and they are all within .5 of eachother respectively. My main one is IR, and my secondary uses a probe. The others are standard. I haven't seen any pronounced stress marks from him unless...

    The Cantankerous Beardie Dilemma

Alright, so it's been awhile since I've posted... but my little ones have both grown up (they're two years old now and doing awesome). I had my first clutch about 6 months ago and had 27 little dragons make it on my first clutch. My girlfriend wanted to keep one, and I let her pick the one she...

What things does your Beardy HATE?

I have found out my female is carefree. However - my male absolutely HATES ceiling fans. Scares the bejesus out of him and he gets pissed off and finds a corner to hide in (understandable since he thinks it's a flying predator I'm sure). He also doesn't care for the dog, but doesn't hate her...

    Went into Petco today

I had seen the horror stories about how the animals are treated and such, so I decided to investigate one of the local stores to see what they had (I'm looking for some White's tree frogs, and they are the only ones that had them out of several in my area)... Yeah, my heart sunk a little when I...

    Crickets keep dying..

It's realistically crawling space, not the space itself. They like to get into things, and if you just throw them into a cage they'll all huddle into the corners. That's why you see egg cartons and the like used because there's tons of stuff for them to crawl on.

    Crickets keep dying..

I ordered a batch of 1000 and I've had about 50 die total at the very most. This was my first batch of 1,000. Here's what I find works for me (because my first small batch of 200 I lost HALF of them): - Tank size is critical I noticed the first time around. For 1000 crickets, I have them split...

    Can Bearded Dragons explode?

I knew a person that ate 19 tennis balls in a row once... one night they literally exploded nothing left except guts and slime everywhere. Happens all the time, apparently.

Questions from a soon-to-be beardie owner

I usually let mine sit under the lamp for an hour before I feed them. They're usually ready to eat by then.

    I've got somthing to say.

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that. Try to think of all the good times and realize that eventually - every living thing dies.. including us. Your time wasn't wasted with the animal, and those memories haven't been lost. Those are things you'll hold on to forever.

My beardie is addicted to the white stuff!

to be fair, BOTH of mine also react a lot better to crickets that are dusted. They're much easier to see. I seriously doubt the dragon has eye problems, moreso just being easier to see movement from a bright white cricket.

    Larger Crickets?

I just moved up to medium sized crickets today and they aren't having any issues with them. My beardies are both just a hair smaller than yours. Just make sure you don't go too big, heh.

    Tips from your experiences?

LLLReptile, I think you're right on the calm handling. Animals can sense nervousness. I've been very, very slow and calm so far. They've responded really well to it. I also do have a backup bulb ;) When do baby beardies start displaying interest in greens? Mine aren't so.. thrilled about them...

    just a rant..

I chose bearded dragons to keep away from my car, actually. I have a Camaro I've sunk a lot of money into, heh. Was time to get into another hobby before I start building another motor.

    Tips from your experiences?

As many of you have seen, I'm new to the world of beardies. I also REALLY like these animals from the week I've had them. They're fantastic animals. What are some things you all have learned in general that you found most useful? It sounds vague, but I'm talking things like feeding techniques...

At what age would Bearded Dragons become an adult?

I second this. My male dragon is doing the very same thing. Curious little guy.

    How Beardies Make Life Better

Bahaha, I already have this problem. Go there for crickets, leave with 15 more beardies ;) I'm pretty sure my wallet is bleeding from this past week alone. I'm scared about the future months.

Questions from a soon-to-be beardie owner

I've had both of mine for a week, and all I can say is this: they're awesome, but DO NOT get a baby unless you have a lot of time to do things right. I'm not OCD about things, but babies need time to see you're the provider, and not the predator. They also need to get comfortable with you...

To become an owner or not?

I'm a new beardie owner and have two of them.. both of them are the nicest pets I've ever had. Not even a hiss or anything, and I've had my fair share of amphibians and reptiles. I don't regret my decision at all.
