Can Bearded Dragons explode?

My friend said he used to have a Bearded Dragon and told me how his died he said he used woodchips as the substrate for his Beardie because he didn't know any better at the time because he was just a kid as this happened years ago and decided to use woodchips as the substrate for him. Well apparently the Bearded Dragon started eating the woodchips and I guess he ate too much woodchips one night and it literally exploded nothing left except guts and slime everywhere. Is this just a made up story or can Bearded Dragons bodies explode from eating woodchips?

Sure, the same way dogs explode from eating chocolate.

Seriously, that anecdote is full of hyperbole, but the impaction from undigested wood cellulose is pretty certain.

I knew a person that ate 19 tennis balls in a row once... one night they literally exploded nothing left except guts and slime everywhere.


Happens all the time, apparently.
