    Coccidia is back now what?

Thanks that was EXACTLY the type of product I was looking for. I ordered up some of the disinfectant and acidophilus too and hopefully I can finally have a happy healthy beardie. He's just so skinny right now too, I think the Albon was just about as hard on him as the parasite and it didn't even...

    Coccidia is back now what?

My beardie had a positive test for coccidia, which was an ordeal to get in the first place with the vet having very limited experience with reptiles. Eventually the vet gave me albon to treat, I followed the directions and super sanitized his tank every poop as well as gave him a bath. I treated...

    wood vs glass viv

Interesting! I didn't know they even existed in plastic I'll have to look into it. I definately want to take the time making a nice enclosure for him now that I know it'll hopefully be the last one he ever needs. Also I just bought a kingsnake off a friend and his tank looks amazing with all...

Is it worth it to breed crickets?

So does anyone know what the smallest cricket population that's able to sustain itself is for breeding? RIght now my beardie is only eating about 20-25 four week crickets a day.

Is it worth it to breed crickets?

I'm definitely leaning towards breeding them now. The closest cricket breeders I'm aware of are around 800km away then I have the problem of the post office only being open while I'm at work, so getting them shipped straight from a breeder isn't really an option.

    wood vs glass viv

Thanks that is a very good point! I just finished dealing with coccidea a few months ago which he had since I got him and I have nightmares about it coming back, I took everything out but the bare essentials during treatment and I would NOT want to deal with trying to sanitize wood on a daily basis.

    wood vs glass viv

I initially had my one beardie in a 33 gallon re-purposed fish tank but he's grown to the point where I want to get him in something bigger soon. Right now I have the light fixtures clamped to the sides of the glass and the top of the tank open, which I like for handling, cleaning, and feeding...

Is it worth it to breed crickets?

I recently moved to a small community for work, and it's about two hours to the nearest city where I can buy crickets. For the first little while it wasn't a problem because I had a cricket supplier in the city and I came home every weekend to stay with my husband and get crickets. However it...

He refuses to open his mouth!

Well he did great being wrapped in a towel for two weeks then decided he was not going to open his mouth with me around ever! Over 2 days I spent 30 minutes with him wrapped in a towel on my chest waiting patiently with the syringe on the side of his mouth which used to make him open his mouth...

    Toenail cutting?

So it went fairly well, I cut them while he was in the bath since he seems to always be trying to put a foot or two on my hand anyways. I cut 2 a little too short and I'm not sure if it hurt him but he kind of held his foot up in the air for a while but he seems just fine. He's in a 30 gallon...

He refuses to open his mouth!

Well the second time i wrapped him in a towel since he seems to like it after his bath and it gave me more control over him, and tried to pry his mouth open. He got a small drop of medicine on his lips and when he went to lick it I managed to get the dropper in his mouth and give him a full...

He refuses to open his mouth!

Well the leaf trick worked the first time but he was NOT impressed. It doesn't help either I took his favorite log away while he's being treated so he seems pretty cheesed off at me, he sits where his log used to be and glares at me. Today when I went to give him fresh water he ran over from the...

    Toenail cutting?

Thanks! I'll give it a shot with just some regular toenail clippers, I've noticed he's even starting to catch them on his reptile carpet so I'm sure he'll appreciate it too. I'm hoping to get him some cool looking rocks to replace his hide that's getting too small, I just gotta wait for the snow...

He refuses to open his mouth!

Haha I love the tricking him with a big leaf idea, hopefully he doesn't catch on before his treatments over! I'm going to pick it up today so I'll give it a shot, hopefully he'll just lap it up though.

    Toenail cutting?

I have a beardie that's about 7 months and hes getting to the point that his toenails are getting very sharp, they can catch on my skin, clothes, paper towels and just about everything now. I don't have sand or any rocks that could file down his nails and I've read that they can be trimmed but...

He refuses to open his mouth!

My beardie just got the positive test results for coccidia and I should be getting the antibiotics sometime this week. I'm a little worried though, because he refuses to open his mouth if my hands are anywhere near him. I tried a reptaid treatment and the only way I could get any into him was to...

    probiotics

I have been having a hard time, took my beardies fecal sample on a 9 hour roadtrip in a cooler to get a test done, it came up positive for coccidia. I brought that back to my local vet and I've had to wait over a week now and they still don't have the antibiotics in because they don't seem to...

    Reptaid Discussion

So I gave reptaid a try because I figured my beardie had something wrong and it was going to cost well over $100 to get a fecal text done. After the first 10 day treatment it seemed like if anything he was worse (possibly because it was drawing out the infection). After that I gave him a break...

    fruit and veg

I have the same problem. I want to feed my beardie a mix all the recommended staples like collard greens, mustard greens, etc. but about the only staple food I can actually buy (according to the beautiful dragons web page) within at least 6 hours driving are the squashes. There's a lot of...

    Pectin Gel?

Watch out for anything that may have pesticides though, I peel the skin off oranges and use that instead of gel.
