Any Tips on "getting over" Handling Roaches?... ewwy

They would live but wouldn't be able to to reproduce in those temps. Without food or water it would be a challenge for them to live

Any Tips on "getting over" Handling Roaches?... ewwy

Sometimes you just have to face your fears head on. I was a little creeped out by roaches when I first got them, I wasn't touching them. After a while, I had one accidentally stick to my hand and started crawling up. I wanted to flail my arm away but it kind of tickled. I just let it walk...

Question: How To Feed Cactus Leaves to Beardie?

No the outside is ok, but I at least get all of the pricklies off. Then I kind of skin it a little. It's a little tough with the skin on

What is in YOUR beardy's salad?

I cut large cubes of squash, then run it through a cheese grate raw. Helps a ton!

    Beardie "throwing" around his salad?

Separate the dragons. It could be signs of dominance or just a wild beardie. As long as they are eating then it should be alright but I would for sure separate them.

I mix collards, acorn squash, mango, and diced cactus pads for all three of mine, they love it!

    wont eat veggies anymore

Sand could be a problem since they lick alot! Id try to get the basking spot up to 100you or even 105. Do you have an undertank heat pad? Also, let him run around in some 95 degree water and he'll surely poop in that!

    New Beardie

500 should be ok, just keep the cricket enclosure clean, I like to feed them collards and fruit in a dish and they'll be good to go.

    New Beardie

The problem with crickets is they die off very fast so for that small of a dragon isn't really sensible. Do not feed mealworms... id stick with roaches, crickets, silkworms, calci worms. Occasionally wax worms. Collard and mustard greens are the best staples for veggies too. Make sure you get...

Got a juvie in bad shape :(

Yep, that's about it. She had a few then worked up a few more every day. She still has a few days where she really don't care for food but from when I first got her she's made definite improvements! I figure it will take a few months for her to get back to good shape. Are the crickets too big...

    Deciding on Live Feeders

Roaches are the best! Plus they cannot infest your house, this is an entirely different specie than your typical house cockroach. I find the easiest way to feed roaches is to tap the egg crate in a deep bowl, like a cleaned cottage cheese bowl and toss em in the freezer for around 2 minutes. It...

    Are lobster roaches ok

Lobsters are a great feeder! They climb like crazy so watch that. They are also pretty quick. Not as fast as my turkistan roaches but they certainly move. I believe dubia has a tad more shell to them, plus they are always super expensive.

Don't go to Bart's pet store in Omaha, Nebraska

Went in this place as well recently. Unimpressed. It was about 1pm and they didn't have any lights on the beardies. Just pitch black. Every single reptile is in the teeny tiny 5 gallon aquarium. The geckos looked rather skinny. Sad. It would be interesting to see a pet store that actually cared...

ROACHES ... why am i scared??

Hahahahahahaha this is cracking me up!! I am creeped out by crickets and superworms for sure. My roaches don't bother me. They crawl up my hand and just walk around. No biting ever! I almost consider them my pets now ;)

    wont eat veggies anymore

Mine seemed to barely pick at theirs for nearly a year. It was almost like a switch turned off and they started immensely loving greens. Just keep offering greens, and it'll start loving them soon. Keep feeding bugs all the time!

    wont eat veggies anymore

How old is your beardie? If he's older and your giving him a too many live feeders this could be the problem. If its younger then this sounds pretty normal. What are you offering for greens?
