As I compile this weeks shopping list of half a dozen different salad items for Ikran, I got to wondering. What is in YOUR bearded's salads?

Please make sure to include if the dragon is adult or younger(juvenile, baby etc). If you want you can post how often you feed what, or simply compile a shopping list type format.

Here is Ikrans (juvenile):
Collard Greens
Mustard Greens
Turnip Greens
Squash (summer, speghetti, butternut or acorn)
Apple (fed every few days)
Mango (fed every few days)
Carrots (fed every few days)
Banana (shares a bite off of mine when I eat it  very rare treat)
Tomato (my guinea pigs eat this, if I have a tiny chunk left it goes in the salad)
Bell peper, green (same as above, after cutting for the guinea pigs if there is a tiny bit left his salad gets it)

That is my salad at this time. Hope it provides a good example!

Currently the salad I make only consists of turnip and mustard greens. I have tried different squashes and a few different fruits but he hasn't been interested...the only thing I have gotten him to eat outside of greens is carrots. I do give him those occasionally by hand as like a treat or something. He is probably about 3 or 4 months old. I have had him for almost 2 months and I am not really sure how old he was when I got him...I am guessing 4 to 6 weeks but no clue.

Looks good. Ikran went through a phase where he wouldn't touch anything green now he prefers the green to the other foods I offer.

Mustard Greens
Collard Greens
Squash (summer and butternut)
Navel orange (he's actually only had it once and only took a small bite)
Banana (again...only once and a small bite)
Apple (once and small bite)

He's ~5 months and I usually only put in a green and some squash.

Rex is 3 1/2 years old (Adult)

Blueberries
Sometimes peas, but rarely.

This is all I can get him to eat. I think the people that had him before us only gave him Romaine Lettuce because he will eat that every once in a while, but I know it has no nutritional value. And he used to eat crickets when I first got him last year, now he could care less about them.

So my dragon lives on Superworms (2 or 3 a day) and Blueberries.

I have a 4 month old juvenile, and I use mustard greens as the staple, as these are his favorite of the greens. I also mix in collard & dandelion greens, and then rotate in escarole, frisee, belgian endive, baby arugula, & summer, butternut, & acorn squash. I like greens more than he does, so it depends what's going into the salad/pan that night. Haven't gotten allot of luck with fruit, though he does seem to like papaya, but only when he's given it on tongs, not by hand, not in the salad, he'll kick it out of the way to get to the greens. Next is to experiment with more fruits to see what he likes...

Mine won't eat crickets either.

I got him to eat one, but I had to hold it in my hand. I'd put it down and he'd just watch it and then look at me. If I went to pick it up and remove it, then his head would follow my hand with the cricket. If I put it down, he'd ignore it, pick it up and he'd stare at it. I put it closer and he ate it from my hand. That's the only cricket (dry or alive) that he's eaten.

Glad to hear mine isn't the only one that seems to not like crickets. If I lay a worm down he goes nuts though, will eat it and stomp around in his food bowl with his tail curled up, eventually cleaning his plate.

His salad is usually:

Collard Greens
Pellets from Fluker's Buffet Blend for Juvenile Bearded Dragons
Sprinkle of calcium powder
Little splash of water
Topped off with a small live meal worm or two (or four)

I wet it to make the pellets stick to the greens, otherwise he doesn't eat them. After a little water the pellets get soft and stick to the greens so he can't pick them out and gets the vitamins. I tried carrots, he won't touch them. I guess this is a bit of a chef salad or something. He's nuts for collard greens.

Does anyone cook the butternut squash or are we feeding it to them raw? It seems like a tough squash for them to chew.

Not sure if this helps, but when I feed my plecostomus and my turtle something like squash or cucumbers I usually blanch them or just microwave them in a bowl of water until they don't float anymore (can't remember where I read that). By the time they sink, they're really soft. I let them cool and then deliver them to the hungry mouths. I just microwave 30 secs, then peek in. Then 30 more secs each time until they sink.

I'm not sure if you do the same for a bearded or not. I read something once about them being tough to digest raw and it was recommended for the fish, I just kind of do it for my turtle also to be safe.

All mine....adults, juvies and babies get collard greens, butternut squash, and nature zone beardie bites. Plus dubias or discoids. I just cut up different sizes for each.

Mine get everyday:

Collard
Acorn Squash
little bit of Kale topper for my older guy (He loves it the little one won't touch it)
Green Bean
Beardie Bites

then usually some kind of fruit to finish it off and a couple wormies

My beardie won't eat anything green!!! Only carrots and zucchini! He did eat romaine but I switched to turnip greens and he won't touch them...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
