    How do you prepare Squash?

Do all kinds of squash need to be peeled? I feed Lando a Cucurbita squash (think that's what it's called, anyway) and I've never peeled it.

Are your BD's lazy each morning when the lights turn on?

I have to put Lando on his basking spot every morning, or else he'd hide all day long!

    Lets Talk About Our Tanks

Mine is in a 40 gallon breeder. I keep it in the living room - I like watching him, plus it makes for a great conversation piece when we have people over!

    Sand

I love the natural look of sand, but switched to tile because the sand was such a hassle. Plus, Lando always got huge mouthfuls of it whenever he tried to catch crickets, which made me paranoid about impaction.

Ah, that makes sense! Maybe I'll mess around with the tank to see if the temp changes with different rocks.

He usually eats almost everything I put in his bowl - collard greens and superworms this morning. He generally munches throughout the day and only leaves a little bit leftover. Right now he's alternating between glass dancing and basking. I actually took out the top flagstone just to see what...

    Yep, he's basking right now.

I got them from Home Depot, they were just labeled as "flagstones." I don't know if that's an actual kind of stone. But I'm googling because I want to solve the mystery!

I'm just paranoid because I want to do everything right; you guys are being really nice and helpful! :) And yes, it's in Fahrenheit.

It's a GE, just a basic household light. I'm sorry, I don't mean to baffle anybody! Maybe something weird is going on that I, in my inexperience, don't realize...? As I said earlier, I tried a 100 watt and it only got the basking temps into the low nineties. Sorry for the mediocre quality, it's...

Yes, it's working correctly - I had it sitting on the counter for about an hour while I was redoing the tank, and it read the same temperature as my home thermostat does. I keep my aparment around 68-72*.

Hmm, I don't know what to say... I tried lower watt bulbs but the 200 watt is the only thing that gets the temperature high enough. I used a 100 watt for a few days but it only got it the low nineties. Strange!

Since this picture was taken I've changed the tank around a fair bit... I've used bricks to raise the basking spot, and used some wire to rig the UVB light inside the tank, so he gets plenty of that! :D The basking light is 200 watt, gets about 104*. The cooler side has a 34 watt bulb, and...

    New user (and beardie!)

I moved my probe to actually touch the basking spot several weeks ago. And I know people keep saying "you don't need a light on both sides" but even with both lights, my temperatures are what they're supposed to be. They're both normal household lights. One is for basking and gives off a lot of...

Gizmo "The Burninator" - Pics added 4/27 (Day at the park)

I love your rocks, where'd you get them? I have something similar (got them at Home Depot) but yours look much nicer.

I agree. I have tile, but I wish I could find something more "natural" looking, but still safe and easy to clean!

    Approximate wattage for 40 breeder

Weird, I had to try all sorts of bulb wattages in my 40 gallon breeder, and the only thing that would get the basking spot hot enough was a 200 watt! It's about 103 right now, everything else only brought the temperature to the low 90s.
