Nine yo Sick dragon needs rescuing ASAP! North San Diego

Thanks you guys. That makes me feel better. When i think back on it, i think he had a good life. He was loved not only by me, but by all my family members, and was given lots of attention. I was really expecting the max of 13 years out of him, so i'm mostly disappointed. Hugs

Nine yo Sick dragon needs rescuing ASAP! North San Diego

Thank you, Adriana. I was thinking about coming back here to post about it, but it's just been too sad for me. I guess he was considered a senior dragon at nine years old, but i don't think he lived long enough, at all.

Nine yo Sick dragon needs rescuing ASAP! North San Diego

Hi, thank you for asking! No one ever got back to me at any of the resources i was given. Rex died last week. It was very sad, and i miss him tremendously. As much as i love beardies, i probably won't ever get another one. The vet's who specialize in them don't seem to know a whole lot when it...

Nine yo Sick dragon needs rescuing ASAP! North San Diego

Hello! My dragon is in desperate need of a new home. He has been to the vet three times, and they don't know what is wrong with him. It looks like a fungus, and he has tail rot. I don't know why the vets used antibiotics on him, but that didn't work. He's the sweetest little guy, and i'd hate to...

    HELP! Beardie's tail coming off!

I just fed my beardie before putting him night-night, and i noticed that his tail looked stiff, and peeling. Upon further inspection, the tail looks to be rotting, or coming off half-way in the middle. I'm horrified that this is happening! Is this something that happens in old aga? Rex is about...

Need advise on purchasing a new UV light!

Hello! I've had my beardie for a while, but i never had to buy any major supplies for him besides heat lamps since he was a rescue and came with everything he needed. I'm worried that his UV light is too old and should be replaced. Can anyone tell me the best type of light i should get for him...

    Crickets co-habitating with my dragon!

OMG! Thank you for telling me, Dawn! I will get my boyfriend to catch the little critters this morning. I don't know how they've stayed alive for so long, and getting bigger than they started out with! They always die within a week inside my cricket habitat, and that's with plenty of food and...

    Crickets co-habitating with my dragon!

Hello! I very rarely give my dragon, Rex, crickets. Now i'm going to stop giving them to him because the ones he doesn't eat right away hide in his log during the day, and don't come out until night when Rex is asleep! There were three, and he ate one, but now there are still two, and at night i...

    UVB lighting

Buggsy, i am totally green eyeing your enclosure!! It is soooo beautiful! How is your UV mounted? I'm looking to get Rex a new light, but i need a whole new casing too. I have a feeling i'm going to have a hard time finding something that spans the entire length of his tank. If i could mount...

    Weird sound

Hello Tyler! I think your beardie may have the hiccups! When mine first did that weird hissing/gasping sound, it freaked me out a little too. They were pretty regular, and his tummy would spasm each time, so i figured they were hiccups. He hasn't had them since. I hope this helps! Krista

    Poop schedule?

We let him run loose in the house, and outside. Most of the time he just sits around and thinks about where to go, then he'll haul butt down the hall, or out the door. He never tries to run away, and we always supervise him, especially outdoors. We have five cats and two dogs who never bother...

    Poop schedule?

My beardie is a poor pooper. He has a bowel movement once a month, sometimes more often, but not usually. What seems to help with him is activity. I take him outside and let him runaround a bit (totally supervised, or a bird might get him), then put him back in his viv. Usually he will poop soon...

    Aggression?

I was curious about the head bobbing too. Someone told me it is a courting gesture, and the blackening of the beard is a dominance thing. My beardie's bobbing of the head is a new thing, and we've had him for three years. We don't have a female anywhere near him, so i'm not sure if i believe...

    Spoiled, hand-fed beardie

Hello! My beardie has never been a very good eater. Unless there's something very tempting in his food dish, he won't eat very much. I heard that beardies get addicted to superworms, and those were the bulk of his diet for a long time, so i no longer feed him those. We put a couple of wax worms...

    Superworms????

I used to feed Rex exclusively superworms, along with veggies, and i read somewhere that they can be highly addictive, so i stopped feeding them to him. He always seemed to be a very picky eater (he'd only eat corn, grapes and okra), but he would never refuse a worm. Since i've stopped feeding...
