Crickets co-habitating with my dragon!

Hello! I very rarely give my dragon, Rex, crickets. Now i'm going to stop giving them to him because the ones he doesn't eat right away hide in his log during the day, and don't come out until night when Rex is asleep! There were three, and he ate one, but now there are still two, and at night i can see them crawling on him. I keep hoping he will find and eat them, but it's been weeks, and one of the crickets has gotten pretty big. Is it okay that they're in there with him, or can they hurt him while he's asleep?

Hi Krista,

You might want to get those crickets out of your beardie's enclosure. Unfortunately, the little buggers can cause damage to your beardie. They will chew on your little guy while he is sleeping and can cause sores, that could become infected.
If you want to prevent this from happening, you could feed your beardie in a seperate tank/bin. Then the crickets he does not finish can be scooped up and put away.

OMG! Thank you for telling me, Dawn! I will get my boyfriend to catch the little critters this morning. I don't know how they've stayed alive for so long, and getting bigger than they started out with! They always die within a week inside my cricket habitat, and that's with plenty of food and water! Think i'll stick with feeding him superworms and waxworms.
