    He's gone :(

I took my Piggy to his new home today. It was awful!! I don't know how people do this... I know he's with a great family and he's going to be taken care of really well but I'm completely heartbroken. Ugh... how do you guys deal with the pain of losing a pet? This is awful!

    How to transport

I'm giving my Piggy away this week and the lady who is taking him lives about an hour and a half away from me. I'm wondering about the best way to transport him. I have to take his tank apart to move it so he can't stay in there for the trip. I'm also thinking it may not be the best idea to...

    Superworms: yea or nay?

So I just drove an hour and a half to pick up crickets for Spike and the store was all sold out. I picked up some superworms instead. I know there has been some controversy over superworms, so just wondering if it's ok to use them to replace the crickets for a few days until I can make it back...

    Woohoo!!!!

So as some of you know I've been planning to move back to Ontario and I needed to give away my beardie... the woohoo is because I found someone to adopt Spike!!! I'm so excited! The lady who is adopting him used to rescue sick beardies and nurse them back to health, she sounds absolutely...

Ok, so what do I do??

I'm moving back to Ontario and I can't take my beardie with me but no one seems to want to adopt him. If I can't find someone to take him, what do I do?? Where else can I take him?

    Would a dragon starve himself?

My Piggy has lost interest in his vegetables lately, but still goes wild over the crickets, so to me it seems like he hasn't lost his appetite, he just doesn't want to eat the veggies. I'm considering withholding the crickets until he starts eating the veggies again... do you think he would be...

Free to good home in Red Deer area

(I originally posted this on the For Free bulletin, so sorry for the repeat) I have had my beardie for a few months now, and I love him to death. Unfortunately, it looks like I may be moving back to Ontario in the near future and I don't want to put Spike (aka Piggy) through the trouble of...

Is there a way to fix an RI without a vet trip?

I'm pretty sure Spike has a respiratory infection, but I can't afford a trip to the vet right now (I'm in school, haven't had a pay cheque in six weeks.) He gapes even when he's not under the lights, the other day he opened his mouth really wide and made an odd sound, almost like a yawn, and...

    Holy crap!!

Sooo lately (past month and a half maybe?) Spike has been shedding little bits here and there, which I thought was pretty cool. Last week he shed a big huge section off his belly. Today, I got home around 6:30 and went to go check on him... he looks disgusting!!!! He's got big sections...

Can someone help me FINALLY get this right please?

Ok so I've been struggling with trying to find the right UVB light for my dragon for months now. They don't sell Repti-Sun anywhere in my area, so right now I have a Repti-Glo in Spike's tank, which I know is not good for him. I'm going to have to order something online, so can someone please...

Storing food like a pelican. Normal?

I noticed the other day that when I'm feeding Spike veggies (acorn squash in this case) he takes everything I hand to him, chews it up a little bit and appears to swallow it. After a while, I noticed his beard looking swollen. I pressed on it and realized that all the pieces he was eating were...

    Any Albertans, please read this.

If any of you live in the Red Deer area and haven't already heard about this store, please stay away from Red Deer Reptiles on Gaetz Ave. Terrible conditions for all of the animals at that store and the owner is a complete tool. For more information, see my post in General Discussion.

Horrific Conditions in Alberta Reptile Store

I don't even know where to begin describing the conditions of this store. If anyone lives in the Red Deer area, please stay away from Red Deer Reptiles on Gaetz Ave South. I don't know much about snakes, but from what I've read on other boards, these snakes are not kept properly and are sick...

    Pooping in the bath

Soooooo Spike has yet to do his business in the bath. I'm wondering what it is about the bath that makes them poop? Bath time is a very new ritual for Spike, but still, I wonder why it is that they go in the bath, and will Spike ever start to do it?

    Does your dragon scratch you?

So Spike was crawling all over me earlier and now I have a ton of scratches on my shoulder! Is this normal or are his claws getting too long?

Ok, you can all be proud of me now!!!

Finally got rid of the nasty sand and replaced it with shelf liner!!! :D :D :D Only problem is Spike's tank is HUGE and didn't get enough shelf liner to cover all of it... paper towel covering the rest for now... until I go back into town... But yay! I did something right for a change...

    Spike's left eye is swollen.

One of his eyes is fine, the other is swollen to the point that he doesn't want to open it. Could this be because of the sand in his tank? What else could cause this? Will it go away on it's own??

Anyone have a dragon who doesn't like collards?

My boy Spike goes nuts for butternut squash, but he will barely touch the collard greens at all, even when I hand feed him. Anyone else have a beardie who doesn't like collards? And if so, what else can I try? I can't find mustard greens at the grocery stores in town so I need some other...

Spike's first swim in the tub... comments?

So... this may turn out to be a long story... I just gave my five year-old a bath for the first time in his life... he had an odd reaction so I'd like to hear what you guys think. I drew the bath, warm water high enough to cover his vent, a little deeper near the drain since the bath tub is...
