Hmmm at least 50 adult females will produce roughly 1250 a month if each has 25 babies (normally between 20 and 30) so if you think a growing beardie eats 50 babies a day in one month it would eat 1500 a month. So you would have to leave your colony around 6 months for those 1250 to turn into...

hey! Yep we sell in the UK :) And no they dont smell, well that is to say the roaches dont, but whatever food you place in there does... i.e. if you use dog food, your tubs will smell of that!

Nim has had mites for the past 2 weeks (which she got off the pet shop she stayed in while I was on holiday! GRRR) and I took her to the vets after the meds didnt work, anyhow he took a stool sample and she also had an increase in coxcidia, which was probably brought on my the stress of mites...

Yoou could try mealworm colony, they are a bit of a pain but they are not 'roaches'... there is also the Fruit Grubs, which come from the sun beetle. These are easy to keep but the grubs have a mean streak to them! Also locusts though i am not sure you will be able to get them in the US...

I normally cut their wings off with a sharp pair of nail scissors, if you dont want to do that stick with juveniles

I got a lot of mixed roaches too! The babies of these i fed to Nim, the rest grew up! But with these guys its always a waiting game isnt it? So in 3 months hopefully I will have a population explosion? :-) Will just have to resist looking in on them and feeding from them! Hmmm will see how that...

Thanks! I started off with 50 adults in August si they have been going for 5-6 months, but I have had to feed out of them. I have decided to leave one tub alone and only use the other tub now... I have around 500-1000 babies and juvies I can be feeding with at moment so they should get a rest!

Hi, My beardie eats her roaches out of a metal tray which she can see from above, she has started to recognise every time I put the tray in now she knows its feeding time!
