I've read online several times that Crickets stink, is this true?
I've read online several times that Roaches don't, is this true?

I can't find an online supplier of live foods that delivers 1000 or more bulk roaches to the UK, can anyone reccommend anywhere?

Thanks in advance all :)

I bought 1,000 crickets and put them in a tank. No smell for the first couple of days, but after a few days they did start to smell a bit. And, made such a mess in the bottom of the tank. I don't have any experience with roaches.

A few weeks. I have two beardies...a 15 month old who doesn't eat them everyday, and a baby who will sometimes eat 30+ a day!

I notice a lot die, maybe 30% would be my guess.

But it is still way cheaper then buying them at the pet store. Even with all the dead ones.

I have them in a big fish tank...lots of egg crates in there..a dish with cricket food, and a dish with the water gel things ( lol..not sure what they are called). Luckily, I can store them outside now that it's warm enough.

I used to store them in the laundry room, and the smell did get to me after a while. But, I don't want them anywhere else inside the house.

I love the convenience of just walking about back to get them. Driving to the pet store every few days would get to me after a while.

I am looking into switching to worms, probably silkworms ( packed full of calcium!). No smells to deal with, easy to handle and store.

Get youre roaches from http://www.dubiaroaches.com they are way better then crix, they don't smell, don't climb, don't chirp, and they don't die.

I appreciate your help, but unfortunately that website states they cannot export live foods :-(

I'm in the United Kingdom

hey!

Yep we sell in the UK :) And no they dont smell, well that is to say the roaches dont, but whatever food you place in there does... i.e. if you use dog food, your tubs will smell of that!

I received 300 roaches and a 'Roach Hotel' from you a few days ago, absolutely fantastic and excellent delivery.

Ill be purchasing a breeding pack soon, I am hoping that the large pack will be in stock soon!

Once again, thank you so much for the excellent service, I shall surely reccommend you to others.

Expect a £100+ order from me on the 10th of next month haha

Just one question, roughly how long do you think it will take to breed enough roaches so that I can feed my dragon off them sufficiently?

Hmmm at least 50 adult females will produce roughly 1250 a month if each has 25 babies (normally between 20 and 30) so if you think a growing beardie eats 50 babies a day in one month it would eat 1500 a month.

So you would have to leave your colony around 6 months for those 1250 to turn into adults then once this happens there would be an exponential growth in your colony, and you would be able to sustain your beardie with ALOT to spare :)

Hope that helps :) Numbers are only rough estimates tho

A couple other points to keep in mind though, they are 'pregnant' for about a month, so initially you may see a lot of babies, but the females may not immediately get pregnant again, so it may be 40-50 days before a female has more babies. In addition, it takes 3-4 months for the babies to mature. This is when you'll start to see the explosive growth in numbers!!

I agree though, unless you plan on spending a lot of money to start with a large colony, give it 6 months before you even think about feeding them to your dragon and you will be rewarded with plenty of little roaches to feed them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
