winter is here so it is possible that he is brumating. They will eat less and sleep a LOT more when they do that. My oldest Beardie has brumated since her first winter, but my younger one didn't brumate at all during his first winter, but has since.

when we travel I use the lights from home and a smaller tank, we've got a 20 gallon tank that we will use if we will be staying over night somewhere besides home. I know its not very comfy for them, but they will be fine for just a couple of nights in a smaller tank.

When I first got my beardie (over two years ago) I was using calci-sand. I quickly switched to a shelf liner... Smokey HATED it! she hated being in her cage and would try to escape and run along the glass, hitting her head trying to get out. I switched to a basic playground sand and she loves...

I heard you're not supposed to set their cages directly next to windows, the sunlight going thru the window and then the glass of the cage is magnified and isn't good for your beardie... I don't know if thats 100% fact, but better to be safe than sory.
