Older beard 11+ sleeping more often?

Yes reptisun 10 tube, I think it's about 13 inches above the bottom of tank. I've had this set up for years, and he has always been active and healthy. Heat lamp at one end reaches about 110 on a hot day, and cool end of tank in in 70's He can still jump on his rock, and has really good...

He is awake this morning, basking. Sometimes he will only come out in the morning, and then go back to sleep after 1pm here is the pic

Older beard 11+ sleeping more often?

I have repti sun 10 for him and I change the light twice a year. I do sprinkle calcium on his food still even though I have cut back on protine. He is still pretty healthy looking, he was jumping all over the place when I gave him a bath couple days ago. I just haven't met a whole of of people...

Older beard 11+ sleeping more often?

Hi folks, this questions is mostly directed to people who have experience with older bearded dragon, my guy is at least 11yrs. possibly older. I've noticed even with record highs, and humid days, he is sleeping more and more during the summer. He had his usual burmation over January-March this...

    Brumation question.

Although typically beardies don't burmate until they are a year old, mother nature's rules are never set in stone. you should always offer food during burmation period, some beardies are out cold for months, and some just sleep a little bit extra. My guy will be 10 years old this year (he's a...

    Brumation question.

I would just stick to your daily routine, lights on in the morning, maybe cut back his food if you find he isn't eating as much, but always give him the option. Make sure he has a hide spot so he can get away from the light if he wants to. and lights out at the end of the day. Pretty simple...

    Poop and bath help.

my beardie does the scratch thing too, He is in a basin he can get out of at his own, so I figured the 'scratching' was just a way of splashing and washing himself. When he is done with his bath he jumps out himself, so I've never really given it much concern. Not sure about the poop though...

    Glottis/esophagus

ahhh ok well it sounds like you know what your doing! Trust your judgement then. I haven't read much on here about people taking that method, but maybe you could find something on the internet, even if it's a different reptile. I hope it works!

    Link wont eat anything.

I keep the lights on the whole time, and offer food 2x a week when my guy is in burmation, you never know when they will want a snack.

    Link wont eat anything.

if he hasn't eaten, he probably doesn't need to poop. He could be waiting until shed is complete to go full burmate. every beardie is different, mine is currently coming out every day and sleeping under his light, instead of staying in his cave, where he stayed for 2 months last winter..but as...

    Glottis/esophagus

Are you wanting to go straight to the stomach because you think she really can't swallow it? or because you feel the method will be easier? I'm not a vet! but in nursing, when it comes to humans, you always try and promote people to do as much as they can on their own. Which is why we hand feed...

    How to transport my beardie?

I've used a soft cooler before, keep a part of the zipper open in the car, but you can close it up for when they have to go outisde. Towels and heating pad, just make sure it's not too hot. Since the cooler is lined, if he poops it's not hard to clean it up. Hope that helps :)
