Hi, I think he looks like a regular beardie. One foolproof way to tell: have you ever seen him puff out his beard? Only bearded dragons do this, rankins dragons do not have the ability to puff out a beard.

Hey! It's pretty normal for beardies to change color with mood, temperature, or sunlight. Especially to get darker marks on the head like that. Here's some examples of one of my dudes: Same guy, totally different colors. You have nothing to worry about :-)

Thank you daydreamer1017. Since my Spyro was a rescue he was more susceptible to injuries, due to his weak bone density and other factors. It was sort of a freak accident. However, being cautious is always a good idea, they are fragile little things. Thank you for the kind thoughts Esther.
