    Dubias Are ESCAPING!!!

So my wife went downstairs to our basement to do laundry and as she was putting laundry into the wash she noticed a baby dubias at the bottom of the laundry basket. She is freaking out! She is ok with them but doesn't want them to be running around in the house. We live in WI and it has been...

Better Meaning active and eating his green like crazy! I wouldn't give him/her any bugs, not even for a...

Now I'm Stuck and Feeling Overwhelmed!

I was talk about crixs. If you still want to buy a 1000 of them at one time to get a better prices break. Then do it instead of taking care of dubias. Some people just can't handle touching and/or even the sight of them. Like my wife and everyone else I show them to. I also have egg creates in...

Now I'm Stuck and Feeling Overwhelmed!

I keep mine in an unheated base. I bought a 1000 of them a coulpe of weeks ago and they are still alive and sheading. I feed them potateos and a wet sponge for water. Also I have a 9" X 8" reptile heating mat on the bottom of a rubbermaid container. It has a screen covering a hole I cut out of...

    HELP with lighting new viv

I have been doing a lot of research on the Mega Ray both uv and non UV. The http://www.reptileuv.com/ has a lot of information on lighting and its setup. The thing to remember is "lighting is a process, not a bulb". You will need two dome lights. For one of them you will need a 50 watt Halogen...

    mercury vapor bulb question

Yes but you will need to check your temp so that they are right. 105-115 dgrees. Alway check basking spot temps three time to be sure.

    mercury vapor bulb question

I use an inferred thermometer. I check my temps though the mesh screen top, to the top of the height in which my Beardies back is going to be. The normal temp of the room is between 63-65 degrees. This will only affect ambient air temp when the lights are off at night. Well with in the normal...

Mega Ray SB at an Angle

Correct, the fluorescent bulb should not have UVB. The light we see is different then the light are beardie can see. They can see UVA light so a full spectrum fluorescent can give him a wide color band in which they can see. It help simulate peak sun light of a normal sunny day. Hope this helps Mike
