Number of Dubia to start with

I'm giving mine about four months or so. Then again, I just bought a chinchilla so my beardie aspirations must be put on hold. (Pretty much the sole reason I haven't been scurrying around this forum like normally. I miss you guyssss but the chinchilla forum is demanding. :(

how humid is too humid for dubia?

Take out the moss. You don't need any substrate in your tub at all. If anything, it just makes more of a task when cleaning. The moss is what's holding your humidity and dubias are not as humidity-sensitive as other roach species. As long as you take that moss out and have at least one...

    if i'm getting a baby...

If you use Repti-carpet, you have to keep it ultra-clean otherwise you're pretty much just giving a pristine environment for bacteria to harbor. Like the previous poster said, just stick with paper towels for now.

    slate & sand??

Beardies in the wild very rarely are found out in the sand, they go for the harder, compact clay surfaces. It's suggestive selling, people think desert reptile and they think they need sand. And the whole "Calci-sand" concept doesn't mean it's any safer. :banghead: I work at a Petsmart as a...

    Dubia Feeding Questions

They were horribly thirsty last night since it was the first time after shipping, 1/4 of an orange gone in 5 hours maybe? So I threw another slice in today just to be safe. Mouth is fine, no swelling, no pain. Now it's just a matter of figuring out what the hell to eat for the next several days...

    Dubia Feeding Questions

    1) How often do you change your dish of chow? 2)Do you moisten your chow at all or just leave it as dry and powdery? 3)What is your normal staple that you include in your colony besides chow? I use orange, apple, and potato slices. 4)Any supplements? If so, do I need to use these supplements...

Funny thing you said that Navan, I actually just moved the probe further down and it is heading up now. So I do believe my heat should be fine, I'll post back with a stabilized temp in a little bit. Thanks for the help, I think tomorrow I'll cut up some of the egg crate Chris sent me. Another...

30 gal Sterilite tub. 11'5'' 15 watt Repti heat Cable. Basic "S" pattern underneath one half. Getting around 79°F in the egg crate area. Currently have the screen hole covered, trying to keep some heat in, and a blanket around the edge on the heated half. Yes, I'm getting desperate, haha. EDIT...
