    T8 vs T5 behavior differences?

My beardie grew up on t8 (about 3 years) and with his new tank I switched him to t5. He's been using t5 for roughly a year now and hasn't changed that I can see. He's always been a piggy. He has been more energetic and head-bobby since his last brumation but doubt that's due to lighting. I think...

How often should I sort my Dubia colony?

I honestly never sorted through mine, but I'm also super lazy...And as long as you don't feed off the nymphs till your adults are having new babies, they will grow to be adult males and females.

Best heat mat for my dubia roaches PLASTIC tub? link please:

I used the ZooMed ones fine on a regular rubbermaid bin when I had my first roach colony. I had two of the ones made for 30-40 gallon tanks taped on the inside walls of the bin on either end. Also, make sure you don't lose too much heat or moisture through that vent in the lid.

    Zoo med's can o crickets

I hate those "Can O' ..." anything. They smell bad normally, whether they've gone bad or not. My beardie won't eat any of them either. Looks at me like I'm stupid lol. They're basically packed in their own "juices". :puke:

    Dumb woman at the reptile/aquarium

If you go into a pet store (especially big box type) for any info regarding a certain animal, ask around to see if anyone there owns one and ask them all the same questions. I work at a big box store and am the only one there that owns many different reptiles and am known as the "reptile/snake...

    Not a normal appetite?

Like MikesBeardies said, just keep offering till she stops eating. It takes some longer than others to adjust. Also, try not handling her for a couple of days to see if she eats more then. Mine, when he was really young, used to get all angry with me when I handled him and then tried to feed...

Questions about the diet/feeding of a Juvenile Beardie

    > Do juvenile beardies require their dry food to be dusted? If by dry mean pelleted/processed food, no you shouldn't need to dust it. Mine has never liked that kind of stuff so not a huge amount of experience with it. > What is the best live food to feed a juvenile? (I know that mealworms can be...

    Reptile Omnivore Mix?

Also, since he's so young, I'd stick to feeding him actual live stuff so he gets everything he needs.

    Reptile Omnivore Mix?

The freezedried stuff? I wouldn't use it as a staple. I work at a petstore that uses freezedried veggies as our only "fresh" veggie for the reptiles and after a while it takes a toll on their health, especially the tortoises. We do rehydrate it, but it doesn't have nearly the amount of vitamins...

    When do they slow down?

I THINK mine slowed down around 8 ish months? That also may be when I put him on a diet as he was starting to look like a baseball lol. If not by then, he ate a LOT of veggies everyday by the time he was a year old because he was already 20" then and I felt I should cut back on the protein. Now...

    Cheap feeding?

I leave a bowl of the freeze dried stuff in the tank 24/7 just in case he feels like he's starving (ya know, cuz I'm not a slave to the beast or anything  ) He's only ever eaten two bites of one of the pelleted diets and turned his nose up at the rest. I had to make those beardie bites...

    Superworm turned without being isolated

I've heard that mealworms will eat it, but I've never witnessed this. My beardie eats them all up before they can even think about pupating.

Am I Being a Bad Beardie Momma?

I wanted to clear up a bit on the whole Petsmart thing. I work there. We aren't "taught" anything about the animals we take care of in any formal fashion. We basically have to figure it out for ourselves (through care guides, asking someone who does know, books, etc.). When shopping there and...

    Superworm turned without being isolated

They only need to be separated from other superworms because the worms and beetles will eat the pupae.

2 questions - feeding cricket and worms

    1. That's what I use to feed my crickets and dubias, and it hasn't caused them any problems. If anything, my crickets live LONGER in their little keeper than on that Fluker's Cricket food. 2. I'm not sure on the earthworms, but I've been wondering the same thing. I think the beautiful dragons...
