Lilly and Lyla

I finally got my new baby today! She has done great so far. Other than a dark belly she has shown no signs of relocation stress. At 6 months and 104 gm, she ate a meal that would have rivaled my boyfriends 10 month old, 314 gm dragon. She had hornworms, butterworms, and crickets. We actually had to cut her off on cricket because I stupidly bought some that were way to big (we picked out the littlest ones). I have already taken several pictures so I just have to share. I will be updating this post periodically with more pictures and stories. (I have to add my funny cricket story here. Yesterday I went to feeder's supply to get crickets because I won't be able to get bulk until monday. A girl in her 20s or so was helping me. She had jeans on with torn knees. As she was almost done with my crickets she says "Oh my gosh". "What?" I asked. "A cricket just crawled into my pants." She hurried off to go take care of it and another worker came to finish my cricket order. I found it hilarious).
On to pictures:

Hey Annabelle-
We are both doing great, thanks for asking! Lilly does like her salads. She loves being handfed pieces of greens, but will also eat them on her own. I can't wait to see pictures of your guys. Definitely send me a link when you do post them. I posted a few more pictures of Tyson from today here viewtopic.php?p=837823 if anyone is interested. He is starting to get jealous of all Lilly's attention lol.

Let the shed begin!
Both Tyson and Lilly have been in preshed for what seems like forever. Lilly started shedding last night and Tyson started this morning.
Here is my grumpy bump (not very happy with her tail in shed)

look very closely and you can see the base of has started to shed

She's definitely more antsy than usual but I know she has to be uncomfortable. Her bowel movements have been odd the past two days. I made a seperate post because I'm a bit concerned, but I'll repeat it here. Lilly usually poops once or twice a day. Two days ago, no poop. Yesterday 2 poops and one passing of just urate (is that normal?). Today, 3 poops, 2 passing of just urate. I wonder if stress from shedding has upset her digestive system? Tyson has had 2 loose poops (one very loose, one a little less) in the past two days. Does anyone else see this during shed? I probably will break down and take in a fecal from Lilly (I'd much rather spend the money on worms- but I'll do what's necessary). Other than her odd bowel movement, she's been great. I have thick blondish-brownish hair which matches her fairly well and that is her new favorite place to hide. I can't tell you the amount of time I've spent untangling her from my hair. When I can, I just let her hang out until she feels like coming down. When I tried to put her in the bath today, she would not have it. She wiggled out of my hand and up my shoulder and onto the top of my head. I eventually got her into the bath where she quickly calmed down- she even let go of my hand by herself. She doesn't seem to enjoy baths, she gives me a "mommy havn't I had enough" look, but will usually stay put for 10 minutes before she climbs out. Sorry for the long post, but I do love talking about her!

Well I'm coming sans pictures because my dad uploaded my pics to his cpu so I will have to get them back and then post them here. So much has happened since I last posted. Lilly has shed all but the last 1.5" of her tail and is getting ready to shed her body. This is the first time I've seen the true colors of her tail and they are beautiful! (Her tail was in preshed when we got her). She's also shedding right around her mouth, but her head doesn't look anywhere near ready to shed. She has been eating a ton (despite shedding)... and you know what happens when they eat a ton. Yesterday I got home from work (10 hours w/ a 30 min break.... ugh!) and had three not-so-little presents left for me. She even got her furniture which she never does. I took it outside and sprayed it off with a high-pressure hose. I've been reading about other people's dragons pooping in their salad bowl and thought "oh we're so lucky Lilly and Tyson don't do that", so of course she had to prove me wrong today. She only got a little bit in her salad bowl, but I still wasn't very happy. We got our order of dubia and she loves them. She eats them off the tip of my finger before I can get them lose. She starting to be more calm when I handle her. I had her out in the living room watching TV with my boyfriend and she got on my shoulder, burrowed into my hair and went to sleep. I couldn't take a picture of course :( . Later that night, I burritoed her and let her go to sleep on my chest while we watched a movie. I've fallen so deeply in love. I'm going on vacation Wednesday and dreading three days without her. My dad's taking care of her so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I am going to leave VERY detailed instructions. I'll be back soon with pictures- I promise!

*edit* I weighed her yesterday and she is 154 grams! Brian weighed her the first day and she was 104 (he said he wasn't positive this was a good weigh). But she has made huge gains!

Sounds like Lilly is really doing well, gaining great weight, eating like a little piggy, and of course pooping. Don't feel bad about the pooping mess, I have memories of Pyrex "fingerpainting" his whole viv EVERY DAY, greeting me when I got home from work, but now he is grown, and does his business in the bath, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
We all can't wait to see the pics of Lilly when her shed is complete, to see her true colors, she's already beautiful.

Bugs and hugs, :love5:

Thank you all as always for the compliments. I am a very proud parent, I can't help but smile anytime I think about her. I'm so glad she got all of her shed off now, I'm leaving for vacation Wednesday and was terrified that she wouldn't get the bath she needed to shed. I'll only be gone from Wednesday morning to Friday evening so she'll be okay without a bath until Friday since she's not in shed. I can't get over how beautiful she is now! Those purplish side bars are amazing!

I have a quick question I hope someone can answer. Lilly shed all of her tail but the last 1-1.5" on Friday. The last little bit still hasn't shed 72+ hours later. At one point should I become worried about it? I didn't use the toothbrush to get any of her shed off because I was worried I would do more harm than good, but can do that tomorrow if I should. Her entire body started to shed sometime after noon today and was finished by 6 pm.

Unfortuately, there always seems to be a stubborn shed that wants to linger on.......but don't worry, as mentioned, just bath daily and gently use the toothbrush, it'll eventually come off..................... some shed seems like forever. :protest: (like the shed knows we're protesting)

She got most of it off running around today. There is like 3 scales on the tip of her tail and 1/2" a litte above the tip. I get worried hearing about people who have lost dragons because a little piece didn't shed which cut off circulation which turned necrotic. I can be a bit of a worrywart lol. We will definitely use the toothbrush with bath tonight. I know better than to ask my dad to bathe her, he complained that she's already going to be more work than both dogs combined. Hopefully the shed will come off tonight!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
