Hi! We have a new beardie. This is our first night, I am worried about his nighttime temperature. Do all lights get turned off at night? His cool side is 79. Is that ok for the nighttime? He’s so little I’m scared he’s going to get too cold.

Hi. No lights at night. Beardies like it cool at night and dark. If your house doesn't get below 65 at night he'll be fine :D

Agreed with Destiny, no lights at night. A cool down period is good and natural for them :mrgreen:

Yes, first beardie, just PetSmart. I have friends who have them, so have gotten good advice on set up etc. Last night was his first night home, just a little daunting! He’s all good this morning though!

What kind of lighting do you for your tank? Did you get a "kit" from PetSmart?

No reptisun 10 tube in a fixture in the tank, and a white heat bulb over his basking spot, 100 watt I believe. We also have a ceramic heat emitter in case we need it for night time. His basking is staying about 100, and cool side 79ish. I’m going to get an infrared thermometer gun thing today for more precise readings.
I was told the kits were crappy. I think the set up we bought second hand was originally a kit, but I modified a bunch of stuff based on talking to people and research.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
