Drachen and Treven updated 1/18/12

My fiancee and I bought Drachen on Saturday at 9am, I lost power due to Hurricane Irene on Sunday at 7am. I was worried about the lack of UV and heat so my fiancee and I cuddles with Drachen. Drachen started to eat from my hand and will actually crawl onto my hand now, I also put my shirt I was wearing that into the tank for warmth at night. Now Drachen only wants to sleep on my shirts so I put 2 in the tank permanently. I got power back today at 3:30pm so it was a pretty good first 4 days.

The name is pretty unoriginal, I am a fan of languages. Drachen is German for Dragons. I like the sound of it better than Drache which is one singular dragon. Pronounced Drahan with a hard H and Drak respectively. Next Dragon may be French Latin or Italian who knows

I considered Bart or more commonly used Barti as a name for our little guy for a while :wink:

Beard would be a great name, but I found it less unisexual then Drachen I have thought about Bart as well. Maybe if I know it's a male when I name the next one.

Sorry no picture updates today, Drachen was great today though as always first thing I do in the morning is get him fresh greens and he eats a few for me right away. I do have a pic of this I don't think it was greatest quality so I may try again tomorrow. Ate about 22 crickets today so he is getting more comfy and voracious I am happy about that. He had free reign of my room for a bit ran 5 ft on my bed and chilled. He got a little chilly while cuddling and he tried to burrow under my laptop so back to the tank and he fell asleep on the glass which he hasnt done since the first night.

I am so amazed at how D will eat greens! N is totally into grapes from my hand (thanks to reading that your D likes them) but no go on the greens. Fresh organic greens and they all get the snub. He doesn't care for reptiworms either. He is way into his crickets and eats about 30 a day. Go Drachen!

Yeah peeled and chopped. I am stickler for the "smaller than between the eyes" rule. I chop his greens up really fine too. I only had my cell phone at the time but he totally ran over and ate some chopped dandelion greens. Yay! Couple pieces of greens and ignored the grapes today. Then ate 15 or so crickets. Piggies.

Haha are the dandellion greens new? I don't have any left but Drachen loves them and collard greens the kale he munches on but dandellion and collard are gone when i come home from school

I am pretty sure I got lucky with Drachen's gene pool we have a lot of breeders around here that give the babies from clutches that don't match the pure colored ones to the pet stores. So Drachen was one of the ones that the morph dealers didn't want to try to sell or breed and i ended up finding him at Petco for $60. One of the local breeders admitted this is what he does. I just got pretty lucky that the colors really still show.

Yeah he seems to prefer the large greens so i cut out the stems so they are nice and crisp and easy to chew so he can swallow without my worrying

Well today was a day of a lot of change, Drachen ate so much today I was astonished, 20 crickets 5 collard green leaves about 1" by 1" 1 goliath worm(tiny) and 20 reptiworms. The reptiworms and goliath worm are new to D. Then the got a new bigger tank, moves from 3'x1' to 4'x1'. Will be building custom cages for both of them by next year. Yes I did say both of them. I just got another bearded dragon named Treven. The thing didn't relax til 9:30. He is very cute and Drachen seems to get along with him they met in the bath tub and hung out together at Drachens new pad. Few arm waves from each and they relaxed both are sleeping on my fiancee right now. Pics to come.
