I know there are lot of roach bin heating threads but I have a different question.. I know alot of people are cautious about putting heat pads on their roach bins and i'm pretty concerned about it too. But for the people that have put these on their bins what size pad are you using? The 1-5 gallon or the 10 gallon? Have you had any issues or scares? I'm just trying to find out because I really don't want to burn the house down :p.

I was worried too, so I went with my 60W CHE. Works great.
Did you mount it inside your bin or do you have it resting on top?

I would not use an UTH on a plastic bin. From the ReptiTherm user manual:

Do not use the ReptiTherm® on anything other than glass terrariums:
...
NO PLASTIC cages (Only the RH-7 Mini is suitable for use on “Keeper” type plastic cages because of it’s low heat output. Always place the heater on the back or side wall of this type of cage)
There is too much risk of a fire. Here is a thread from several months ago where this happened (but they had crickets): viewtopic.php?f=76&t=132187

I think a human heating pad would be safer. They all, as far as I know, have a bi-metal thermostat that shuts itself off if it gets too hot. CHE seems like a good choice. I use an infrared bulb in one of my bins.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
