Zeddicus & Menjenko

So I posted on the introduction thread, but wanted to post some extra picture in here as well. I went to the reptile expo in Pittsburgh today and wasn't planning on buying anything today, I just wanted to look around. Before today I had been torn on silkies because I don't think they really look how a bearded dragon should, but I fell in love with one today, so she came home with me. (plus the vendor gave me a steal of a deal for her, shes a hypo probable het translucent silkback, $30.) I have named her Menjenko. The other one is a male hypo translucent leather back that was $270. He gave me Menjenko for $30 since I was buying one of the two and couldn't make up my mind. I have named him Zeddicus. Now for the part I'm sure you guys really want, pictures!

I thought giving her the kangaroo my friend brought me from Australia when he came out to visit made sense. I went to the store to get a digital thermometer after I took this picture. I decided she would be better off at home under some heat than in Walmart with me.

And she claimed my laptop mouse.

They both seem to be settling in nicely. Menjenko wasn't interested in crickets when I offered her a few, she did eat a little bit of blueberry though. Zeddicus ate probably 10 crickets today and half of a blueberry. They also both got baths today as well. I am ordering repti worms tomorrow.

Also, I know I need to help Menjenko with shedding by applying lotion and making sure her skin doesn't get dry. But seens as I wasn't expecting to have a silkie I'm not quite sure of all the details of it. The breeder gave me some, he said to mist her a couple times a day with shed ease, bathe her frequently. He also mentioned some people apply lotion to them, but didn't go into details about it. I wanted all of your wonderful advice as well. If you do use lotion, how often and what kind? Do I have to use a different UVB for her, are her basking temps supposed to be different?

I don't have any tips since I don't have a silkback, but I do want to say they are adorable! Maybe my next beardie will have to be a silky. :wink:

Thank you, I think they kind of look like E.T. But I do have to say she is pretty darn cute. And again this morning she wasn't interested in the crickets I offered her, but did eat a piece of collard green I dangled in front of her face and took a couple of licks from her blueberry. I ordered some reptiworms last night and think I might get some silk worms as well.

So I have spent absolutely all day trying to get the temps right for my babies, silly me going to a reptile show and telling myself i wasn't buying anything. Menjenko looked like she was having a little bit if trouble from some retained shed on her tail as well as having an arm band on one of her front legs, so she had two baths today to try and help it come off. And come off it did, yippee. I know they usually suffer from relocation stress and don't normally eat during that time, but I feel that she is just way to small to go with out food for a few days and she isn't interested in the crickets. So I went and got a small jar of chicken baby food hoping to get at least something in her tummy. She ate a small amount so I feel better now. Other than the not eating she doesn't seem stressed at all, happily basking the day away with a nice white belly. And she didn't want to leave my hand when I went to put her back in her tank after her baths and baby food.

Zeddicus is settling in nicely, he munched a couple bites of salad and chased down a few crickets this morning. Hopefully my order of reptiworms gets here quickly so I can quit bothering with the crickets.

LOL, i had to ask my boyfriend who carmine is. He's the one that plays, but I am very excited that 3 is going to have a female character. I have played multiplayer with him a couple of times and I am horrible.

Zeddicus eats like a champ, feeders and greens. Menjenko still isn't eating, so I have reptiworms, silkworms, hornworms and minimealworms on order.

Zeddicus's back legs are shedding and since Menjenko is a silkback they have both been getting baths twice daily.

And...more pictures. :mrgreen: I have finally filled up my memory card though, so I either have to buy a new one or save my pictures to a disk.

I finally got a order of worms in, Reptiworms isn't shipping at the moment due to an expansion, but luckily I could get enough to hold me over until they do start shipping again at Mulberry. And Menjenko finally ate, She decided shes fond of reptiworms. She ate about 10 reptiworms and 2 baby silkworms. Not bad considering its the first times shes had anything to eat since shes been with me besides the baby food i kept putting on her lips. I didn't get a picture of her eating because in my excitement of her eating I forgot. But I did get a shot of Zeddicus.

Was curious if the vendors at the show are local. Mostly, curious if the beardies sold there have any kind of warranty.

Sorry it has taken me so long to post since my last one. Zedd and Menjenko are both doing well, she is still a fussy eater and he still chows down everything in sight. They both nibble on their salad throughout the day, and Zedd has decided his favorite place to go potty is on Joe's lap. Anyways, heres some more pictures taken between the time I last posted and today.

i have to tell you i SOOOOOOOOO enjoyed this pics!!!!!!!!!!! WOW what beauties!!! Thank You for posting them....and i totally feel you on the salad thig. Blue is 3-4 months old and she has MAYBE taken a few pieces of of squash and several bites of collard greens since i got her. I know she is still young, so im trying to be patient, i know she will eventually come around......im actually leaving for 9 days tomorrow, so when i get back im DE ordering rept-worms.....i hear SUCH great things about them. Right now she on a mix of small superworms which she loves and crix which she loves. she is a great weight (i think, nice full belly and nice width) ...... anyhow, thanks for the pics, i LOVE them!!!!!!!!!!!!
