Yupp. Another poop question!

Lol. Searched and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

I have a three year old female named Izzy. She poops everyday which is good. It's not an unusual color or consistency as far as I can tell. She has a regular diet of fruit/veg, Calc/d3 dusted crickets every other feeding. Butter worms and silk worma as treats. I almost have no problems feeding her which is awesome.

Only question is when I first got her last weekend(Sunday June 3) her old owner only fed her mealworms and her last four days of poops have all had lots of traces of mealworms in them. The hard shell doesn't digest. Not that I expect it to get digested.

I guess my question here is:

Is it normal for them to digest certain food like that for a few days after and to see it in her poop?

That doesn't sound very good. She shouldn't be eating mealworms and the shell shouldn't show in her poop. You should give her a little vet visit to make sure its nothing serious because i've never heard of anything like that.

Shells in the poop are not unusual if the dragon was only eating mealworms. Mealworms are not a suggested staple because they can be very hard to digest, and can cause impaction. I have never fed mealworms and would suggest that you stop feeding those as well which seems like you may already have done. Some dragons have more digestion issues than others, and some even find it difficult to digest adult crickets even, so it just depends on the dragon.

If you notice that food is still not being digested (which it doesn't sound like) you can raise the basking temp. My adult dragon basks under about 100F, and this seems to work for her. If you still notice issues with digestion, or vomiting, I would then make sure that you get her to the vet, but so far it sounds fairly normal to me (not being able to digest the mealies, but having no issues with the food you have provided).

You can also try superworms instead of the mealies, my Emmy loves them and so far refuses to eat anything else (another story all together). Butters, Waxies, and Horns are great treats, and if you can find Phoenix worms those are an awesome staple. Congrats on you new dragon.
