So, Tango has been acting really on the fritz lately. He/she is my second bearded dragon and I really have been trying my very best to be a better mama to my little guy than my last one, zed. Tango is approximately a month in a half (since I adopted him) and 5.6 inches long from head to tail. We aren't sure about his gender as of now, but I have read that beardies go through some sort of puberty?
But when he acts this way (he has opened his mouth at me twice and attempted To bite me once) he runs around and won't let me remove me from his tararium. This happened once in the early morning when I typically feed him and late at night when I feed him again. Both times before his feeding. Though, I've found that once I manage to remove him from the tararium, is fine but still a little jumpy. Actually as I was writing this he jumped out of my hands and ran off my bed and fell on the floor (hopefully he isn't hurt, but he appears not to be considering he is acting just fine now..) He has always been really energetic, but never aggressive. Is it something I could have done? Things have been a little hectic in my house and I did some heavy duty cleaning in my room where his tararium is that possibly could have frightened him.. But again, he has always been really docile and friendly until a couple of days ago. His tank is heated to about 82F and 28C with the humidity of 40% in his little sun bath area. His shadey side has his tree that he loves to climb and his water which is filled on the daily. Recently I haven't seen him poop in about a day, so maybe that's why? Also another note, I came home from school one day and found he was chewing on something that I believe was a part of his tree branch.(it's a pine that's four years old and passed down from my last beardie's old home.) Tango also refuses to eat any greens which scares me because he could use the nutrition. He also scratches at the glass, but I'm sure that is just him seeing his reflection. He has puffed out his chest and turned a darkish shade, but never black on the beard. Anyone know why he's acting up? Is he just cranky or sick? Please help give me some peace of mind!
Note*at the moment he is running around his cage looking at his reflection.
