You know it's love when...

Well, Last night Pepper did something that really made me feel like Mama.

I've been having issues with the Velcro on her light to hold it against the tank.. (it keeps falling) so i replaced it, and it fell AGAIN. And I could tell it startled her this time.. she was dark and fuming. So, i picked her up and she immediately cuddled against my chest and I rocked her back and forth, stroking her back. Within maybe 30 seconds, she was her regular color again and completely calm. You just know there's a bond there when you can calm an animal down so easily.

Was wondering if anyone else had any special things they do with their beardies to solidify their bonds...

Thats cute, i love when beardies do little things like that,tonight i took zilla out to play COD:MW3 (video game) and i usually put him on my leg facing the TV so he can watch me play,but tonight he got cold and tired and turned around and started to climb up my chest and snuggled up against my neck and fell asleep,this isn't the first time he's done this either

that is too cute!!! and yep, you have the beardie bond, it's there forever now!! its the BEST feeling ever!!!

i'll never ever forget, when i was living back in minnesota...this was when falcor was probably close to one year old, maybe sooner, can't remember exactly...but she was sitting in my art room with me, and i had a canvas she could walk across to get right up to the glass of the window. i'm sitting there drawing or painting, and i see a whole whoosh of black fly right in front of our window (BIG CROWS!!) and it scared the HECK out of poor falcor, she immediately turned around looked for me, and ran full-out as fast as she could to me, jumped to me & ran up to my neck and just hid between my neck and shoulders, she would not move...i pet her back and talked to her, calmed her down....what she did next is what floored me....she then 'looked' right up at me into my eyes as to say, thank you...that look in her eyes i'll never forget, was the cutest thing ever. i've never experienced anything like that with any other animal in my life, and i've had all kinds of critters. she totally holds a special place in my heart and always will!! she's mah lil gal!!!

I love these stories. The beardie bond is something special, and you definitely know the moment it happens.
My female Sunny was a bit of work at first, she was always skittish, and would beard at everything. Slowly over time she began to recognize me and become more comfortable with me. It finally got to the point where she would come out for play time with ease, and enjoyed being handled and talked to. Then one random day she was out for play time and I was sitting on the floor with her in front of the television, she started to run over by the kitchen but stopped and looked back at me, I asked her where she was going and told her to come to Mama for some snuggles. I always asked her this and would pat my arm, out of nowhere she ran to me, climbed up my arm and nestled in to the hinge in my elbow! I was in shock, usually she would turn around and keep going, but not that day, I got snuggles!! She's so loveable now and is definitely my baby girl! Another time was when she was out for play time, We were sitting on the couch and she was on the opposite side on the arm rest watching tv. Well out the front window someone walked by that was headed to the front door. It scared her so bad she ran as fast as she could right in to my hand and up my arm in to my neck. I had to slowly pet her back and talk to her for a good 5 minutes before she unhooked her claws from my skin, poor baby! It made me feel really good though. I love beardies, their love is the greatest!!

We were at the Vets for a RI and Moya needed an injection of Baytril. Doc gave it to her and she started squirming and got away from the tech that was holding her for the injection. Moya sprinted across that exam table and up the front of me where she flattened herself out and buried her head as far under my chin as far as she could get.... the Doc says "guess she knows who her protector is" She stayed there thru the car ride home too.
