Proud new mommy of a 4 month old baby beardie, and utterly terrified that I'm going to kill him.
Quick specs: wooden terrarium, 115cm by 60cm by 45cm, newspaper substrate until I can get tiles, cool end of the tank around 80-85f, basking spot 107f at the highest point, nighttime temps around 70f measured with digital probe thermometers.
He is active and a voracious slayer of crickets and greens, very alert, healthy looking poop, etc. However, I am confused about the lighting! It seems like combo bulbs don't put out enough UVB light, though...? Particularly when they're blocked by mesh? In Ferdinand's case, there is a circle cut out of the top of his terrarium and the light hands down 6 inches above the highest point of his basking spot, but is covered by a protective wire frame so that he can't burn himself on the bulb. Is he getting enough UVB light? If the bulb is okay, does he need more wattage...? I believe it goes all the way up to 150. I know that Reptisun and Arcadia are recommended, but neither are available in my country. I'm limited to Exo Terra and Komodo products.
