Hello BD.org,

I posted this week in Health and ER about Khaleesi and her blotchy appearance, lack of appetite, and lethargy. The vet has basically narrowed it down to 2 possibilities, one likely and good, the other unlikely and horrible. What do you think?

Is it a.) A rough shed, which is causing the color change and the bad attitude, or
b.) CANV, aka yellow fungus, a potentially fatal necrotic disease?

Anyone with experience with yellow fungus, please take a look at these pics and tell me what you'd bet on.

It looks more like a shed to me but its hard to tell. Do the light splotches appear kind waxy looking? Is there any spots under the back legs or around the vent at all? I've never delt with fungus myself but every pictures I've ever seen was either yellow or black and scabby looking.
Did the vet take a skin scraping for a culture?

Hey all- thanks for the responses.

The spots first appeared this weekend, on Sunday. They are not waxy at all, just sort of dry looking. They don't protrude up from the skin at all.

The vet claimed that to fully confirm the presence of fungus, a full-on biopsy was required, which also means anesthetizing her- aka painful and expensive for both of us. Since she was "leaning" towards it being a rough shed, she decided to give her an under-the-skin hydration shot via syringe and told me to monitor her to see if it got better or worse. That was yesterday. So far she looks the same.

She seems more perky, but still refuses to eat.

I don't believe YF will appear that quickly, especially at that size. I would wait and see what happens. If it gets scabby, irritated or oozy then get her back to the vet. You can use aloe vera gel to ease the dryness and give her daily baths too.

Hello,

I agree, I don't "think" it is fungus as it usually doesn't manifest quite that fast. Keep an eye on it & hopefully it will end up being just a shed in process.
How is she doing otherwise?

She's still not eating, but has some energy back it seems. I'm considering force feeding.

Update: Leesi still doesn't seem to be eating, but she made a very small, yet normal-looking poop. That makes me think she might be eating a little salad when I'm not around. To be safe, I force-fed her some diluted pedialyte per some advice I got on here. She still lacks energy, but suddenly discovers some when she's in the bath or being manhandled by the vet.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
