Hi everyone, so my bearded dragon has different patches of color. His head is different from his back which is different from his tail. I posted about it before and one person said it looked fine but after doing more research I’m worried again. I found some pictures online that looked similar to my beardie’s condition (I’ll attach them). It’s the patch on his back that I am worried about. He’s had this for a little over a month and he’s shed that part of his back already but it didn’t go away. It did not start with a small patch then spread, it just appeared like that one day and hasn’t gotten any bigger or smaller. It’s noticeable sometimes but other times you can barely see it. He’s also been eating a lot less (I can barely get him to eat 5) and he’s been hiding more. When he goes into his hide he’ll start digging in the corners before settling. We tried getting a dig box for him but he wouldn’t dig he’d just try to eat it. He hasn’t lost weight and he’ll still crawl around if I bring him out. If he does have it, how long does it take to spread? What are good veterinarians to take him to in California that are budget friendly? Or if he doesn’t, is there anything else it could be?

He’s about 9-11 months old. His temperatures are 75 on cool side and 95-100 on the basking spot and the humidity is always 25%- 45%. He has a 34” T5 HO 10.0 reptisun uvb mounted on the inside of his enclosure. He gets baths 2-3 times a week. I give him salads every morning and dubias and crickets two times a day for 10 minutes each.

I am going to have someone else address the scales issue but please get a piece of decor directly under the uvb 12-15 inches- you have a great uvb but distance is key here-

Nothing on your beardie resembles Y.F at all so no problem there. :) And I agree with Karrie, great set up with nice decor, just get a basking log or perch a that allows him to get a bit closer to the light.

If it’s not YF then why is there a patch and why could he be acting like that?

Their skin/scales can have different tones at times or even a patch of uneven shed that can linger or pop up out of nowhere. His behavior is typical of some sub adults as they approach adult size and may act like they're going brumate but not really do so. It's usually just a stage of hiding, sleeping on + off for a bit and then getting back to normal.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
