Hello!
Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I have a weird situation w/my little guy that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. I took Georgie, my five-and-a-half month old beardie, to the vet today because I started worrying that he might have the dreaded yellow fungus. When I first got him, I noticed that he had this weird, *bright* yellow dot on his chest that seriously looked like someone had poked him with a highlighter. I asked the guy from whom I bought G what the deal was and he said he had no idea--he got Georgie in a reptile swap and G came with the mark. I didn't really worry too much about--I figured he'd lose it in a shed. Well, fast forward to this week; G did a full body shed (his second since I've had him) and afterward the spot on his chest looked 1) a little darker (more of a mustard yellow than a neon yellow) and 2) perhaps a little bigger (or maybe just the edges are a little less defined now?). I started to get freaked out and took him to the vet. My regular vet is on maternity leave, but the substitute vet is also experienced with herps and she said she had no idea what it was. She noted that it wasn't crusty or particularly fungal-looking; there appears to be no damage at all to scales at the site of discoloration. They looked perfectly fine--not spongy or anything, just yellow. She said that it might be simply some kind of weird birthmark, kinda like the beardie equivalent of a port-wine stain. She measured it for his health record, advised me to keep an eye on it and immediately come in if anything changes, and sent us on our way. So, has anyone heard of anything like this? The vet didn't want to biopsy what appears to be healthy tissue, which I agree with, but I'm still kinda freaked out here. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks!
Here are pictures. This is my first time posting, so apologies if I screw up the links. Also, sorry the close-up isn't so great; I had a really hard time getting the camera to focus on such a small area.
