Wriggly little blighters

Hi, so I got my first beardie today and have just about managed to feed him his crickets today. But they are wriggly little blighters and I'm a bit of a wimp so I was wondering if anyone had any tips for catching them without crushing them with my tweezers that the shop gave me?

I'm pretty sure he won't eat it if it's crushed, assuming that he will like a bit of a hunt. Any advice peeps? (Other than grow a pair) lol

Welcome to the forum! I found it easiest to keep crickets in cardboard tube housing (paper towels, toilet paper, etc). That way I can just pick up a tube and shake it to let them into a small cup (yogurt cup or similar size). I put some calcium supplement in the cup and gently shake so they're coated lightly and evenly and then tip the cup enough for a couple of them to hop out at a time. It's easier to offer them just a few at a time in batches so you can track them and pick up any remainders after the mealtime is over. I also offer fresh veges to the crickets for food and hydration.

I'd love to see photos of your new buddy. You can upload photos here https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ and post them to your thread using the XIMG button.

I use one of these bug blaster vacuums http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/252505608929?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT to catch my crickets .... works a treat.

I can catch as many crickets as I need for a feeding session in a few seconds, then I simply just turn of the power and pour / shake the crickets out into my wee cricket dusting tub, shake-shake = dusty crickets ready to give to the lizards, and I simply fish them out a few at time using my fingers - ezypezy !!!

I also use the paper tube method, shaking them in to a jar or oatmeal container with a pinch of calcium powder. Then give them a GOOD shake to stun them ....they are then dizzy + wobble slowly around the dragon who usually finds them to be irresistible in their slow=mo condition.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
