Wound on Tail

My bearded dragon has a wound on her tail. She lost part of her tail 3 years when housed at Petco with other young bearded dragons before I got her. This means that she does not always have an easy time shedding her tail. Currently she had a sore spot. Nothing major just sore scales which were underneath a bad shed. I put some antibiotic ointment on the area. Is there anything I can and should do to help make sure the scales grow in correctly and this doesn’t happen again? Thank You.

Hello,

Yeah that would make it hard for her to shed that area. The antibiotic ointment will help quite a bit to help it heal up well.
What is the humidity of your tank? If it is too low, they will tend to have a harder time shedding. It should be around 30-40% but no higher than 50%.
You could try to get it within those ranges if it is not already. Aloe vera gel helps moisturize the area so perhaps you could get some of that & begin using it when you notice that she is going to shed that area.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
