I can't find any vivariums bigger than 4ft in commercial stores.

This says it's all non harmful, what would I need to do to it?

You can probably build one for cheaper. Painting it will not make it smoother. It will just settle into the cracks and crevices, still making the board able to be picked apart. Shellack might help, but I still think you could build one like that, with different wood for cheaper.

It's not the cost, I just cant find one bigger than 4ft D:

As for building, I have virtually no experience, like where do I start, what wood, will I need electric tools?

Most likely yes. It will take some skill to build a cage like that...and some help
