Worried About My Beardie

Hello - We purchased our small beardie from a pet store at the end of October. Although small, we were told it was @6 months old. The beardie has doubled in size since then and had a healthy appetite of salad and dubia roaches. Over the last few days, the beardie has begun hiding behind rocks or in his cave during the day. To feed we often need to pull him out. No other visible signs of distress.

He is in a 40G terranium with reptisun long light. Basking side temp is 90-100 degrees. Cool side is between 78-85.

Should we be worried. What should we do?

Hi there.....if you got him last October and he was around 6 months then he'd be in the 18 month old range. This time of year it's very typical for beardies to go through a slow down and/or brumation. It's perfectly normal and it's O.K to let him sleep and even to reduce the light cycle so there are fewer daylight hours for him. Just offer water once every 7-10 days if his eyes stay open, but if he's fast asleep with eyes closed then he can be left alone until you see him looking awake again.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
