glad to hear the Girl is ok!! We were so worried about her!! Also glad that she likes her new log...I think she deserves it!

Haha yeah! She does enjoy it! I left my phone in the car and it's raining so I'm not going to get it, sorry I didn't respond to your last text!

Here's an image of Girl on her log! She's very obviously still a little stressed from her adventure, not to mention that darn nose shed!

Aw poor baby, she will be fine now that she has some new furniture!
Does she have a nostril shedding?

Haha yup! I think that also contributed to her 'look at how grr I am rite naow!' colors. :D

okay do not take this the wrong way cuz im still a bit worried.

how much does ur vet know about bds, cuz i have never in my life seen a beardie that has a black tail and if its been spreading....

sorry im not saying ur vet sucks i just really wanna make sure she is fine and that its defiantly not necrotic, i must say she is actually growing on me!!

sorry to be a downer but yeah id hate for you to lose her if someone has given the wrong advice.

you HAVE to keep us posted about this, maybe you could measure just her tail length then measure how much is black and check it every month to see if its spreading. if its not then id say you have a very unusual morph!!

promise you will keep us posted?

sorry again but im still worried, good luck with her she is beautiful!!

Believe me, I'm still very worried and very paranoid the vet didn't diagnose correctly, but I don't have the money on hand atm for another vet visit so soon and she -seemed- to know what she was doing, at least in trying to describe a necrotic tail to us. I got her off of the herp vet connection website, http://www.herpvetconnection.com/penn.shtml here. She's the second one listed under Pittsburgh. She's seen beardies before but I don't think she's seen healthier beardies much at all, because she kept describing to us just how Girl's colors were so unique and how she'd never seen such an active beardie before - the thing being that the most Girl did was just plop her belly down to try and find some kind of warm on her back because the room was cold. Well, that and being her naturally inquisitive self, turning her head around and looking at everything she could.

The only thing we can do is just keep an eye out for her tail and hope it doesn't go up any further. It looks like she might start shedding her tail soon (maaaybe), and if she does I'm super hoping the black part will fade with it. That way maybe it -is- just coloring. But given that with her sheds in the past it always seems to stay I don't know, hmm. Here's to hoping, though, crossing my fingers!

What are signs of a necrotic tail? Other than it turning black?

And it's okay! I'm very worried too! I'm super glad Girl seems to be growing on people though. :p While it would definitely be interesting for it to just be coloring, I think for sanity's sake she should just get rid of it~! Haha!

I'll definitely keep updating with anything that happens with her tail. :blob5:

If it is necrotic it will feel dry and kinda brittle, like it was dead. You can always keep on feeling it in the bath etc. If it does go any further up, try and take her back, maybe they can sort a payment plan out? Im not sure how things work over there!

Glad to know it might no be serious though!

This is a link to a more serious case, it just demonstrates how different the texture can be, hope it works:

Good luck and keep us updated

My female beardies tale looked like that when she was younger. I too worried about it being dead tissue. However, and as your vet pointed out, it felt like normal tissue, was flexible, and had no smell. I attributed it to rapid growth from being young, and now that she is older (1.5 years) her tail is normal colored throughout.

That said, being overly cautious is never a bad thing. So keep an eye on it, and twirl and smell it every now and then. Dead tissue will have an odor, especially is it is visible on the outside of the body (not 100%, but if it smells bad....chances are something is wrong).

I wish you and your dragon luck!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
