A worm in his poop was still alive, wtf? How is that possible? Does this mean his digestive tract isn't working correctly? I think I did overfeed him a little yesterday and he was gulping them down super fast, maybe thats why? was a reptiworm

make sure his temps are proper temperatures, and if its a mealworm or other worms like it the outer shell is undigestible by beardies and can cause an impaction. but undigested foods is usually accompanied by improper husbandry. he should be provided with a basking spot of 100-110 and for a MINIMUM of two hours before lights out.

This is not unheard of, in fact, I hear of BSF larvae being passed alive more so then I do any others. Double check you temps and remember to give adequate time before lights out for digestion purposes (2hrs).

yeah there was one or 2 dead whole worms then the live one, he had eaten early in the day though, but he had eaten around 45 at once after not eating for a few days so maybe i overfed him. Il lmake sure he gets lots of time under his bask light, his heat lamp temp is at 110.6 right now.

Hi there,

Are you absolutely sure that there weren't a few worms loose in the tank, that came over to the poo? Or did you actually see your dragon pooing, and the worm moving in it?

I'm pretty sure, I put his worms in a food bowl, one deep enough they can't crawl out of, then I sit there and watch him ea them, he gulps em down pretty fast. The worm was covered in poop and in his poop and there were a couple other whole dead worms encased in the poop and urine, GROSS, hoping that doesnt happen again. I made sure he got quality time under his basking light after eating today, i also fed him 20 worms twice instead of one huge meal.

Please by all means let us know if it happens again, at which point we can dig deeper to see if there is any other underlying cause(s).

This happened all the time with mine when he was a baby. The temps were right and he had several fecal tests done. I figured out he was just swallowing them whole because he was in such a hurry. So I started feeding him his worms one at a time. It was time consuming but it did solve the problem.

Georgie has never pooped out a whole live one, thanks goodness, but I've had a problem with him pooping out whole (apparently) dead Phoenix Worms. From reading the boards here I've gathered that it happens quite a bit even when all husbandry stuff is perfectly fine. I thought maybe I was getting worms that were too small (just mentioned it in another post, actually), thus making it easy for him to NOT chew. He loves his PWs and hoovers those suckers like he's in an eating contest. I'll try feeding him a worm at a time and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip, paulsmom06! It's so frustrating when you triple check that basking temps are perfect, get the all-clear on a fecal sample, etc. and *still* have undigested worms!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
