So I'm going to be building a 6X3X2.5 crossfire type enclosure but I wanted to use a nicer looking wood rather than the melonite. I thought about using oak but it's pricey. I was just wondering what woods would be safe to use and durable enough. I know cedar is a no but wasn't sure if pine would be bad as well...maybe I'll just fork out the extra for oak...I know there was a post not to far down where they used oak and it looks great!

Thanks for any suggestions!

Both Pine and Cedar are bad :( I went with a blonde wood, it was pretty reasonably priced at my Lowes... a bit cheaper than the oak. And I think it looks pretty :)

Thanks for the info...I knew the cedar was bad but wasn't sure about pine so thanks for the heads up...might just end up going with oak since it looks nice and I figure I'll have it for quite awhile. But I'll check out the other stuff they have at lowes or home depot here.

Thanks again for the help!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
