My beardie Bandit is healthy, but ever since December, he has stopped going in his cage. Instead, he will literally hold it in until I give him a bath. At first, I was glad that I didn't have to clean the cage, but now it irritates me having to find time to bathe him, which is a long process now :banghead: . Does anyone know how to get him to go in his cage? No matter how many greens or insects I feed him, he won't go. Any help is great. Also, I made a post about him possibly going into brumation, so if you could, go check it out. Thanks.

Sounds like my Sartharion, he will hold it FOREVER so as not to go in his tank. He used to go in his bath, but doesn't anymore, I'm not sure why. He will go on the floor if we let him out so...basically he's not aloud out until he poops in his cage now, and he always does eventually :?

If yours will only go in the bath, I would stick with that. It might be inconvenient but it can't be very often? Sartharion poops like...once every 3 weeks, I give him a 10 min soak once every other week. My girls I usually bathe a couple times a week at least because they poop almost every day and sometimes walk in it.

Many animals don't like too poop where they live so it's not that unusual. If he can only poop in a bath a few things to consider...

If he doesn't have enough moisture in his diet or it's low in fiber he could be somewhat constipated and a warm bath makes it easier for his body to pass the wastes.

If he doesn't get much exersize or move around it can also reduce the ability to pass wastes as moving is important to moving things through the digestive tract. Small cages can contribute to this.

I have a 50 gallon tank. He eats Superworms, crickets, Collard/Mustard Greens, and the red flukers pellets (I like to call them cereal). Is there something I should add to his diet? Plus, as I said in my brumation post, he seems to stay on his cool side and doesn't do much lately. Is that maybe the reason?

Our boy has a habit of begging at the door in the far end of his cool end to be let out to poop then as soon as he is done he jumps back in again, when I cottoned on to his thing I got a kitchen roll to keep next to his tank!

JenFid: Your dragon only poops once every three weeks? How often do you feed him? Every dragon is different (mine goes once a week, typically), but three weeks seems a bit long. Particularly since by the sound of things you feed him every day.

/shrug he has always been like that. I offer him food everyday but he doesn't always eat, or will only take a couple bites. Even feeders, which my girls would eat until they couldn't walk. He's healthy though, active, good weight, friendly. He's 5 now, so it's nothing new. He just likes to hold it I guess.

Yeah, that's how Irwin is. She doesn't hold it for as long, but for the past two or three months she hasn't seemed particularly hungry. But I'm told by viewers on this site that she looks to be of a healthy weight, so every dragon is different I suppose. I've just never heard of one going every three weeks normally.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
