wont eat dubias

Hi. I got my dubias about 3 weeks ago and my dragon has only eaten one. Zig is 6 months and almost 19". He is a very picky boy. I posted this concern on another site but wondered if anyone here has any additional advise. He completely ignores them. He will eat supers and occasionally phoenix worms. I was really hoping to be breeding dubias and done buying feeders! Aaauugghh!!!

What size are you trying to feed him?

Some beardies just don't like change but come around.

I've tried every size. He is picky. I'm so bummed.

i too had this problem with bacardi. i got her over it by sneaking in a roach while she was eating something else once she got a good taste of it she has loved them since

I firmly believe that a dragon can learn to eat anything as long as the owner is prepared to be more stubborn then the dragon. If you don't offer any insects besides dubias, he will eventually eat them. At his size, it won't hurt him to go a few days without bugs while you wait him out.
Basti didn't like dubia at first either but I was also feeding around 15 supers a day, I cut it down to 3-4 supers and he decided dubia are ok. I did have to experiment with the way I feed them, he won't chase them so I tried different dishes until I found one he will eat from. He also likes it when I lay them on their back on his basking rock, the wriggling attracts him to them.

Thanks Gail. Zig will not chase anything either. I will try dishes and experiment alittle. Thanks for the advise. I'm glad to know that other people have the same issues.
