Won't eat anything but supers.

My beardie has started to eat nothing but supers. He refuses roaches, he doesn't want his salad... I bought a small container of waxworms at a recent reptile show. He ate two the first time I offered any to him, but now he refuses to eat them. I know they're just for a treat, but I was hoping that since they are worm-like he would take an interest in them in addition to supers, and then maybe I could expand his appetite from there. He used to eat anything that moved--roaches, crickets, supers, reptiworms, as well as his entire salad. But then he decided to stop eating dubia. I got rid of crickets but I'm letting the dubia breed. I'm going to be overrun with them soon if he doesn't take an interest in eating them. Should I stop giving him supers and hope he'll eventually eat the roaches when he gets hungry enough?

With my beardie, and a lot of others comments I have read, beardies seem to grow tired of certain foods at certain times. My Bella used to eat like 40 to 60 adult criks at a time. She did not eat but 5 last night. So I supplemented with a few Dubia and 5 or 6 supers. She is loving her roaches and supers. I can't wait until my roach colony can support itself. Just started my supers, but I am going to order her some more. From everything I have read, supers are a good staple. So, every few days, offer her some salad or roaches, just to see if she is in the mood. I started breeding criks, a few months back. I have six totes, with several thousand in each, from pinheads all the way to adults. Just when I thought I was free from buying feeders, my dragon says, NOT! In two or three months, I will have a heck of a roach colony, and hopefully plenty of supers. Good luck

I wouldn't worry about your beardie's change in tastes. Mine takes spells where he will eat only dubia for a while, then he'll stop eating them and eat only supers/mealies and times when he wants phoenix worms. I guess they are like people; sometimes you get burnt out on one kind of food and want another :wink:
