Woke after sleeping caused blackest beard I've ever seen

I have a reoccurring issue with crickets remaining in my beardie's cage and chirping all night, so when I saw one perched on a log, despite the fact that my beardie's lights had been off for an hour, I turned them on for a few minutes so that I could grab the cricket. The noise and light roused my beardie, and he seemed to think it was the morning. When I turned the lights back off, he got the blackest beard and looked really upset. Should I turn the lights back on or leave him? Also, is it bad for beardie's to wake them after they're asleep? Have I messed up his internal schedule?

I don't think he will hold a grudge for long. Probably just grumpy to be woken up. No big deal. Just keep his lights on their normal schedule.

I found it easier to offer crickets in small batches a few at a time. That made it easier for both of us to track them so they could be eaten and I could more easily remove the leftovers after meal time.

Tonight when his lights went off he got a black beard again. It probably was because I was sat watching him to see what happened. I’m going to start feeding crickets in a separate container to prevent any hitch hikers in the future.
